Hillary rules out Prez bid for 2008

...as I breathe a sigh of relief and postpone moving to Cah-nah-dah until I retire... ;D

That's a major relieve. Now if only we can rid ourselves of Dean and Kerry in 2004.

For some reason, Howard Dean makes me cringe when I see him speak.  I don't know what it is.(and no its not because hes a  Democrat ;D)

As for Kerry, is he a war hero or not?  I mean I haven't heard him mention it every time he speaks.::)  (sarcastic of course)  "...the most heroic of men act with the most humility..." (definitely not the case with Mr Kerry)

I heard a story abot him that made me think a little less of him.

Apparently, after he returned from Vietnam, he attended an anti-war rally on "the mall" in Washington(which is his right).  but what made me angry is that he, among a few others, threw his war service medals at the Capital as a sign of protest.  After all these years he has been telling people he took part in this protest and threw his medals back.

The twist is: while he was trying to be a big man and throw his medals back, it was later discovered he only threw some ribbons, and not his medals at all.  In fact he just recently admitted in an interview he "accidentally left his medals at home" that day.  Riiiiiiiiiiight, whatever you say Mr Kerry. ::)

I can't criticize her too much about her decision.  I am not running in '08 either.  :)

This is the best decision she has made to date....

I kind of like Dean.  As Vermont Gov he extended health insurance to just about every kid in the state, raised the minimum wage, signed a "domestic partner" law, equalized funding for education across the state, balanced the budget, increaded funding for public higher education (although VT is still at the bottom on this one) etc.  In short, he was a fiscal conservative but a social liberal.  He is smart, an outsider, honest (unlike Mr Bush) and a straight shooter.  I'd vote for him in a tick, especially if he is running against that "Texas story teller".

I hate to say this, Don, but I don't think there is such a thing as an honest politician.  Regardless of party.

I think the ticket of Clark/Kucinich might have a chance against Bush.  I never thought I'd see the day when a former NATO commander would run on the Democratic ticket. We'll see what skeletons hide in the general's closet, and one of the last doves standing could spell trouble if Bush is forced to think in public. It would be an entertaining show, to say the least. We'll see what the future brings.

Sorry your so cynical, but I must say that to an extent I agree with you.  There are degrees though.  For example, regardless of what you think of his politics, Bernie Sanders (I-VT) has always done exactly what he says he'll do, and he refuses corpoate contributions.  So I guess some are more honest than others.

Because legally she can.  ANOTHER 8 YEARS of progressive government.

Let me add a PS.  As I see it, the big debate is between those who were once called Social Darwinists (some in an updated, non-racist form) who believe that the free market allows the cream to rise, and to h3ll with the rest, and therefore advocate for no gov't protection or regulation.  On the other side are those who have a greater belief in the ability of all people to achive if given the right opportunities, and therefore see gov't as an agency to promote greater liberty and equality for all by limiting the avarise (and potential corruption) of the already powerfull, ie "...to promote the general welfare...".  I think everyone knows which side of that debate I'm on, and I think that, if asked in clear and straightforward terms, would agree.  In fact, so did James Madison, althought he feared that it would be taken to extremes (see "The Federalist # 10").

A history lesson for the day - summer school - tuition free.  ;D

Great point.

After all, she originally said in the early 90's that she wasn't running for any political office.  And we now know how that went. ::)
