Subject: Rather sad news...

...that producer extraordinaire Mickie Most has passed away - succumbing to cancer at the age of 64.

Boardsters of a certain age will certainly remember his work with The Animals, Lulu, Herman's Hermits, etc. Apparently (not sure myself whether this is true) he turned down the chance to work with an early incarnation of The Rolling Stones!

He was also responsible for forming one of the UK's first independent production companies - RAK, which became a huge record label in its own right in the 1970's.

And, just to prove that British journalism still has researchers, it is reported in the News Of The World that Most "wrote" Hot Chocolate's massive 1975 hit, "You Sexy Thing"...wonder what Errol Brown would make of that!

Well, Paul, 44 views so far and no replies, but I know who you are talking about, and yes, he was quite a legend in his own way....

I'm not sure if I'm muddling him up with Tony Hatch but was Mickie Most on Opportunity KNocks when Hughie  'and I mean that most sincerely folks' Green was the presenter?

Also have it in mind that he was in a group called The Four Most (the joke of which I only just got today).  Can't think of any songs they did though

Very sad and far too young. The evil beast strikes again.

Right format Karen, but wrong show...him and Tony were the gruesome twosome panellists on "New Faces", and between them they could cut an artists' act to shreds within seconds!
Host of that show (if memory serves) was Derek Hobson.

I know Mickie did a bit of singing, but I'm not aware of what group he was in...he did, however, have a minor UK hit by himself with "Mr Porter" in 1963...

But as TripsMom says, very sad and far too young...
