Subject: Chewbacca Returns!
LOS ANGELES, California (Hollywood Reporter) -- George Lucas is bringing back the classic characters Chewbacca the Wookiee, C-3PO and R2-D2 for the upcoming "Star Wars: Episode III."
The director has already hired actors Peter Mayhew, Anthony Daniels and Kenny Baker to reprise their respective roles as sprightlier versions of their characters for the prequel in preproduction.
All three actors have donned costumes in past "Star Wars" episodes, and in the case of Daniel and Baker, the thespians have loaned their voice talents to puppet and motion-control versions of their characters. Lucas has noted in the past that having Baker inside the R2-D2 suit brought "an element of humanity" to the character.
The film, whose full title has not yet been disclosed, is scheduled for a May 25, 2005, release.

Cool! ;D
Now all they've got to do is get a script that wouldn't embarass a 13-year-old. Hope they write a scene in there where Chewy throttle Jar-Jar...

Personally, I truly think the Star Wars "Prequel" series was/is Lucas' biggest career mistake ever.
Bad scripts + boring storylines = sleepy time in the theater seat for me ;).
ATTN: George Lucas, Don't fix it if it ain't broken! :(

While I agree with you, good sir, the fact that people still flock to the bad movies and rack up box office returns in excess of $300 million per film is a testament to the staying power of Star Wars. Lucas is lucky he did the "original" trilogy before these pieces of crap though.

I agree totally that the Star Wars franchise has staying power. When something associated with an iconic name like "Star Wars" comes along, people will come.(whether or not they are happy with what they see is another story)
But these "prequel" movies should have never been done.
IMO, its like trying to improve a classic, like the Mona Lisa or something similar.

I have met Peter Mayhew. I got to talk to him briefly and shake his hand. He stands 7'4". He talks very...slowly...deliberately...but after a while you get used to it.

A friend of mine met David Prowess (the body of Darth Vader) and he sang this song. (Sung to the tune of the Star Wars Theme.)
"Star Wars made me a fortune,
Payed off the morgage, bought me a car." ;)

No matter how many times George Lucas yells "Chewy, get us out of here!" The third movie will still be an awful one. (Though I'd still pay to see the wookie tear Jar Jar limb from limb)

...but no "The Saga Begins" or "Yoda" from Weird Al...
Worth it for me, on balance ;-)

I disagree.
The original Star Wars series was and always will be a classic. But these new ones are terrible, in my opinion.
They are trying to squeeze every last drop of cash out of the Star Wars franchise, and its gone waaaaay too far.

Well, they kinda had to tell you what happened in Episodes I, II and III...that's the problem with starting the first (CLASSIC!) trilogy on Episode IV.
I do agree that the prequels could have been done much better though. They just don't have the magic of the first trilogy.

It makes me laugh that people keep saying how bad the scripts are in the new films they were crap in the originals too !!!! (thats half of their charm)
Ok episode one was dreadful really but I enjoyed episode two,Yoda fighting was great if nothing else ! I'm looking forward to episode three.

I can't watch a movie with bad writing. It bothers me too much.
