Subject: Bob Dylan in Concert
Dylan leads at the turn . . .

The Kentucky Derby Festival doesn't officially begin until the really good rock shows begin. Normally, that would be now. This year, however, it's apparently all about the ponies because there are only a handful of Derby-worthy shows leading up to the race.
Of course, when one of those shows is Bob Dylan with My Morning Jacket and the Robert Randolph Family Band, you don't need much else. That happens Wednesday in the parking lot of Jillian's, 630 Barret Ave. (7 p.m., $30 general admission, $75 for VIP treatment -- closer, less crowded).
Dylan you may have heard of -- legend, genius, visionary, etc. He's 40 years into a career that retains an artistic vibrancy few others can touch. Most of the guys in Louisville's My Morning Jacket are 23 years old, and, for them, Dylan is an icon of the highest order. They're a little excited.
Legend Bob Dylan will appear at Jillian's Wednesday night with My Morning Jacket and the Robert Randolph Family Band.
"I'm maintaining pretty well, but Jim's a basket case," said MMJ drummer Patrick Hallahan, referring to singer/songwriter Jim James. "I have no idea what I'd say to Dylan. I'd probably just drool."
Jillian's follows up that summit meeting with, um, G. Love & Special Sauce and Uncle Kracker on Thursday (7 p.m., $20, all ages). All right, so that's a precipitous drop as far as art goes, but there's certainly room at the Derby for big, dumb fun -- and Uncle Kracker is the very definition of same. And his boss, Kid Rock, will be in town for the race, so you never know.

LMAO! I thought I was the only one who thought Dylan sounded like he was, er...over-exerting himself. ;D

For the times, they are a-changing...
BTW, and this isn't a complete non sequitur, does anybody here remember "The Magic Roundabout"?

....and Dylan the Rabbit?
Apparently in the original French series he's a much more dynamic character.

:-) - and do you, by any faint chance, remember Jasper Carrott's Magic Roundabout episode?
I've written a parody that's basically that, set to "Times They Are A-changing" (sung in the first person by Dylan, of course)... I thought the plagiarism was a bit blatant, so I emailed JC's agent to check if he thought it was OK... but Jasper's on holiday, so I'm waiting before I post the parody.
