Subject: Track your Congressman

Modified to add that I posted this for all of us US citizens on the board (not just conservative/liberal/etc). It is an amusing and yet informative way to "keep an eye" on congress. We pay them, we should know what they are doing. Right? ;D

This is a tad off the subject but it reminds me that our Congressmen here in Oklahoma are real jerks! They keep cutting school funding (and at the same time are raising their own salary...) and it has forced public schools to fire just about all teachers who have been hired in the past 3 years.   >:(

All politicians vote to raise their salaries, no matter what party they are in.  Just a fact of life.  :-/

Yes, but Oklahoma's congressmen are the highest paid in the U.S.  Are any of y'all having the same kind of problems with y'all's schools?

Now see, there's where your little attitude gets you in trouble ::)

Anyway...teachers are underpaid, classrooms are overcrowded, kids are doing poorly on tests...it's probably got a lot to do with the money (or lack thereof) but it also probably has a lot to do with teacher, student, and parent apathy as well.  I'm sure you could Google up some numbers and articles.

Frankly, until school districts prove that they can perform up to par, they don't deserve more money.  But they shouldn't be stripped of the money they already get, because that's counteractive.

Well, I go to a small school, so we've never had to worry about crowded classrooms.  And our staff is known to be one of the best around this area.  But I think it's ridiculous that our schools gotta cut teachers and programs just cuz the state congress wants mo' money for themselves.  ::)

Which site?  Not that it really matters.  Just goes to prove that even on good sites mistakes are made.
