Subject: The Iraq Debate
Written By: John_Harvey on 03/08/03 at 11:34 a.m.
What's your opinion? Why should or shouldn't we go to war with Iraq? Throw down your gauntlet and take a stand. Be warned though, I've seen chats like this get ugly!
I'll start off. I'm against an unprovoked war against a large civilian population just so we can pay ten cents less at the pumps.

I agree with J.H. for many reasons. 1st, suppose some other country decides we are a threat to their security? Do they have the right to a preemptive strike? Suppose China decides Tiwan is a threat? BAAAAD precident. 2nd, the situation will omly get worse. Iraq will, I'll bet, become an Islamic, fundamentalist, Taliban-like state, not a democracy. 3rd, I don't think war is ever a good option - defense sure, but not aggression. I think this crisis is being manufactured to distract our attention from Mr. Bush's failure to capture Bin Ladan and his domestic failures, from his anti-environmental, anti-labor, anti-women agenda, which he is slipping through under the radar to benefit his corporate cronies.
