Subject: What does this mean?
From an AP news article:
"Two U.N.-based Iraqi diplomats were ordered Wednesday to leave the country and the United States asked 60 countries to expel alleged Iraqi agents who, U.S. officials said, may be poised to attack American interests overseas.
The government has identified 300 Iraqis in the 60 countries whom officials want expelled, the U.S. officials said. Some are operating as diplomats out of Iraqi embassies, the officials said, adding that the foreign governments are expected to comply with the U.S. request." (emphasis mine)
Does this mean
a) the foreign governments will expel the Iraqis because the US asks them to; OR
b) the US expects foreign governments to expel Iraqis because they've been asked to?
My question is... what if they don't?
Subject: Re: What does this mean?
I don't think it's a very hypothetical question, either.

My guess: If they don't, the US registers a minor demerit on the offending country's diplomatic scorecard.

LMAO? I thought he was serious. Remember, "yer either wit'-us-or-again'-us.
Subject: Re: What does this mean?
Of course LMAO! :D.
He was probably serious, but it read funny as hell to me, anyway.
It reminded me of high school. We had a demerit system. :P ;D
Subject: Re: What does this mean?
It's obviously (b). Note the words "adding that". It was the US officials doing the adding.
Subject: Re: What does this mean?
I tend to agree. That's rather disturbing.
Subject: Re: What does this mean?
And people wonder why almost everyone loves to hate the U.S. If we weren't so f***en arrogant we might not be in this fix.

I believe the line is currently "You're either with us or you're with us" :-/
