Woohoo! Steve Martin's hosting again!

At the risk of sounding like a famous rapper, I don't give a #^%& about the Oscars.
Subject: Re: The Oscars!
And I don't think said rapper gives a #^%& about the Oscars either. His movie "8 Mile" was completely Oscar snubbed. I guess, at least for the Male Actor catagory, the Oscars are still "The Grannies".
My other opinions about the Oscar Race can be reached at E! Online (as CGA). http://earthlink.eonline.com/Interact/Backtalk/Boards/0,13,3-12,00.html

Julianna Moore must be on Cloud 9, what with two nominations for two different movies!
Very happy for Queen Latifah being nominated for Chicago!
No surprise that Nicole Kidman received her second Oscar nod in two years for The Hours, and I feel she has a very good chance at taking home the gong this year.
Richard Gere must feel down, being the only major cast member from Chicago not to receive a nomination. :(

Lord of the Rings better win its the only good movie nominated!

I'm happy to point out that the only person I wanted to be nominated (Walken for best supporting actor in "Catch Me If You Can") was nominated. Booyah.

I agree. But the fact is that they're going to almost definitely pick the artsy film, like "The Hours" or "Chicago". There's almost absolutely no way in hell they will ever pick a sci-fi/fantasy movie. That's why films like 2001:Space Odyssey, Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark and Sixth Sense get overlooked. Sad, really.

Walken is an underrated actor. I hope he does win. He always cracks me up.

I am pleased that "Chicago" is up for best film, its the best thing I've seen in a long time. Far superior to "Gangs of New York" which was too over produced in my opinion.
Also, I think Catherine Zeta Jones played her role in "Chicago" with much more charisma than her fellow nominee, Renee Zellweger.
Jack Nicholson should definitely get best actor for "About Schmidt". It was such a departure from his usual roles, and he played it brillliantly.
Am going to see "The Hours" tonight, so will make my mind up about that then.

I am pulling for Julianne Moore to win something, since she is nominated in both female acting catagories. She is too talented a star not to win anything. I remember Sigourney Weaver leaving empty-handed the year she was up for Best Actress and Supporting Actress, then allegedly tore into her agent. Moore's best chance is the lead catagory, since Meryl Streep and Catherine Zeta-Jones are the co-favorites, and nobody in the lead catagory has yet to win one.

Have since seen 'The Hours' and didn't enjoy it at all! However, I have to compliment Nicole Kidmans acting in it - she definitely deserves to win!
