Subject: Is treatment supposed to be worse than cure?
I had my ingrown toenail removed today, and to tell you the truth, I had rather for the doctors to remove my toe. I had the ingrown since December, but it flared up today. I had tried to see the podiatrist, but he couldn't get me in until Monday, so i had to go see Medcheck for immediate "treatment". Boy, did it hurt. Three shots of local anesthesia didn't work. So the doctor and the nurse pulled and cut while I was writhing and screaming in pain. Now I have to take antibiotics, Tylenol and need a follow-up with my family doctor on Friday. I'll never hope to get another only of those again. Anyway, it did cost me another day of work. And I'll have to take a couple more hours to see the psychiatric clinic tomorrow. Hopefully after Friday, I won't need another appointment until the 25th to see the dentist. It's tough being diabetic. :(

That's a bummer Indy. :'(
Why is it often that the smallest things hurt the most....? >:(

Dude, what a bummer. Hope you gonna be o.k. Same thing happened to a few years back so I know your pain. The doc finally had to perform a cauterization (?) because it kept growing back. Keep resting that foot and take it easy.

Ouch!

My ex had to have an ingrown removed and he was in absolute agony, though his anesthesia did take at the time it was done. I can't imagine them doing that when it wasn't numb :-/ It was after the numbing went out that he had so much pain. I hope you feel better soon.

Years ago, I had half a toe nail taken off. They did give me a shot but there is nothing like having a needle in your toe. What killed me, when it started wearing off, I kept have shooting pains in my toe. It was like I was reliving that shot over and over again. I was supposed to have the other done but the thought of going through that pain again, I never did. I just cut along the edge whenever it acts up. It is so much better than getting that shot. :o

I don't want to upset you Indy but my Brother was a diabetic. He passed away in June 1995 at age 24 from a diabetic shock. It was tough for him having to take his insulin and sometimes he'd forget and become lazy. He'd wind up having hypoglycemia. :'(

Ouch! I feel your pain.
Sometimes the anesthetic does not work on feet. When I dislocated two toes a couple of years ago, they shot my foot full of something that was supposed to numb it so I would not feel anything when the doc put the toes right again.
It didn't work. Not only was the needle pain excruciating, the anesthetic didn't work, and I felt everything.
I hope everything is starting to feel better by now. Hang in there.
