Subject: Awards Shows, who likes them?
I'm talking about shows like The Oscars, American Music Awards, Emmy's, etc etc etc....
Am I the only one that instictively avoids these shows and thinks they are so overdone? There seems to be an award show for basically everything these days, yet the ratings continue to drop steadily every year. Do any of you guys watch these shows anymore?

I watch the music ones sometimes. But i do agree that they are way overdone. And i also agree they have to many award shows. They have several of them for music alone when i dont see why you would need more than one.

There was a prestige to the "Oscars" once upon a time long ago. No longer. :-/
I detest award shows intensely. I avoid them like the plague. :P

If the show has a good host, like Steve Martin, I like to watch just to see what the host does. I really enjoyed Conan's hosting during the Emmy Awards, especially when he busted out Jethro Tull's "Aqualung". Cracked my stuff up ;D

There are just too many of them. I agree, there needs to be just 1 for each genre (movie, tv, music) I do like the MTV/VH1 awards, though. As for the rest, I try to avoid watching them at all costs.

I gave up on them years ago, didn't care for them much and plenty of other good things to watch. I read about them the next day and am satisfied.

I used to watch all of the major Award shows? The only awrds I will even take a peek at are the Oscars. And only for the acting and Best Picture catagories. Otherwise, beware.

Does anyone really go see a movie simply because it won an Oscar? I also want to know, if a movie isn't out for public viewing when the nominees are announced, how can it be nominated ???

Not I.
Thats kinda like rushing out to see a movie just because critics said it was good, or avoiding it because they said it was bad. I usually find myself liking movies they hate, and hating movies they like!

I hate the awards shows. they were fine when i was a kid, but now they just piss me off.

The only award show that I make it a point not to miss is MTV's Movie Awards Show. It is entertaining all the way through with fresh, genuinely funny material.

I do not like them because they take too long. And they have so many awards I am not interested in. I think it could be better if they would have half an hour where they have the three most interesting awards- best picture, best male actor, and best female actor. Those are the three awards I would be interested in watching.

The exercise in self-indugence, bad dress and bad taste. Much ado about nothing and I'm with you...I don't watch 'em either.
