Subject: Biggest Story of 2002

What was the biggest news story of 2002? It's much more dufficult since Sept. 11, 2001 just about dwarfed most past or future news stories. My nominee is the Enron/Arthur Anderson scandels and the fading economy in general. Other big stories included the rescue of mine workers in Pennsylvania, Winona Ryder's shoplifting trial, and the fading support for the US and War on Terrorism. Is that about right?

I wouldn't argue with your list...and the "best" is yet to come.

Something interesting is that the only big story that wasn't really news was Wynona's trial, the others were actual issues that mattered, that' a nice change of pace since the OJ travesty.

I think another big story were the elections and the death of Paul Wellstone. Another story which I think it big (even though some people may disagree with me) had to do with all the peace marches around the world because it shows that we are now out of the "me" decades and focusing on the big picture. We haven't seen that much activism since the Viet Nam war.

My sister used to work at Arthur Anderson and was in the last group that was let go when they closed down.  But i have to agree for me the Arthur Anderson and Enron was the biggest cause with my sister working there whenever i was home and not up at school it was all i ever heard about.  Kind of got annoying after awhile.

Don't feel too bad. My sister works for Worldcom. The strange thing is that she still has a job but yet her boss, and boss's boss don't.
