Subject: Radiohead

Written By: Criz on 12/24/02 at 10:27 a.m.

For years I could never get into Radiohead. Suddenly, I'm starting to really like their stuff - well the few that I've heard. Everyone told me I'd end up liking their music due to my liking of similar artists. Is anyone else a fan? Could you recommend me some of their good songs? :)

I love RadioHeads "Fake Plastic Trees",  I am sure there are more but this is off the top of my head.

Radiohead is one of my favorite bands.  I really loved the song "High and Dry" when it was first on the radio, never bought the album though.  Finally, a couple years ago, on a friend's recommedation, I bought their album "The Bends".  One of the best albums I've ever heard.  OK Computer is terrific as well.  It's hard for me to narrow it down because I have quite a catalog of songs by them, so I'll list a few and then I'm sure someone else can add others.

As mentioned before Fake Plastic Trees is great.

Stop Whispering(Pablo Honey)
Anyone Can Play Guitar(Pablo Honey)
Karma Police(OK Computer)
No Suprises(OK Computer)
Airbag(OK Computer)

Amnesiac and Kid A albums have some great songs as well, although I haven't listened them nearly as much as their first few.

I strongly dislike their last two albums (or what I've heard from them, at least).  In my opinion, being critic's pets for five years went to their heads; now they turn in warmed-over krautrock and expect everyone to keep calling them innovative.  And what really annoys me is that everyone is.  Ah well, I still got my "Bends" and my "Karma Police" to keep me company.

"Just" - the song that changed my life  ;)

Um... EVERYTHING by them. Mainly because they are one of the most innovative krautrock bands around ;) :) :D ;D Start from the end and finish at the beginning. Try Amnesiac, then Kid A (the preamble for Amnesiac), OK Computer, The Bends, and, finally, at Pablo Honey.

These are the songs that come to mind as recommended.

"True Love Waits (Live)"
"Cuttooth"
"I Might Be Wrong"
"You And Whose Army?"
"Pyramid Song"
"Life In A Glasshouse"
"Idiotheque"
"No Surprises"
"Paranoid Android"
"Karma Police"
"High And Dry"
"Fake Plastic Trees"
"Bulletproof (I Wish I Was)"
"Creep"

Happy listening :D !

Gis,

I think Krautrock is shorthand for being overly introspective, intellectually "deep", angsty, susceptible to schadenfraude and generally European ;D

Think Einsturzende Neubaten.

I can't believe no-one has recommended:

Street Spirit (Fade Out)

It has got to be their best song... well alongside

Creep.

Although I've been told Street Spirit is too depressing but hey, most radiohead songs have that twist to them.

Also I Don't See Knives Out no where either.... Dammit

Karma Police (same as above)
Everything in it's right place (kid A)
Morning bell (kid A)

I haven't really heard much off Kid A... most probably the fact that i went off the band at that time because of actions of other Indie people i talk to.

if i had the choice (which i have) I would pick Rachel Stamp over Radiohead any day.
