Subject: I intensely dislike John Mayer and don't know why
I think I have something against modest, sincere, nice guys in rock. This guy is so humble and earnest I want to punch him in the face. I have a similar problem with Moby.
By the way, am I the only person who noticed that "Your Body Is a Wonderland" is about twice as perverted as anything R. Kelly ever sang?

That's why I'm not a fan of Dave Matthews. He and Mayer sound almost alike. I'm not crazy about any high pitched male singers, really. :-/

i liked his first song for a while...now i'm just sick of it. i never liked "your body is a wonderland," though it's wicked fun to sing along to...almost as fun as creed!

I love his songs. That being said it's probably the way he looks when he sings. He sticks his tongue out when he sings. Makes him look a bit strange.
Moby just bugs the heck out of me too. Everytime I hear we are all made of stars I want to break something.

I listened to that song, "Your Body Is A Wonderland." It was a live version of it and it was bad. The guy has no voice to speak of and the music is blah. Pretty much the same guitar riff over and over with little variation. He spoke most of the song and while there are artists who can pull this off because they already possess a timbrally-pleasing voice and musical talent, or one of the two. I don't believe for a moment this hack has either (the guitar riff he was trying to pull on his audience sounded vaguely like bits of "More Than Words"). Unbelievable! I was reading some past reviews of Roxy Music's 1980 album, Flesh + Blood and most of the music magazines panned it. Something like John Mayer would have never cut it back in the day. He would been rightfully tossed into oblivion only to be remembered as the joke who's trying to pass off as a singer. Milli Vanilli had better voices than this dork.
"Your Body Is A Wonderland." What a meaningless, steaming pile of doggerel this is. If there is one thing that gives a love song a high quality is the way it can be sublime and still convey the message of love. This is just crass and lewd - more in tune with 2 Live Crew's "Me So Horny." I'd rather go with the latter since it had a killer beat.
I'm betting this is what gets John Mayer a lot of trim at the end of a gig though ;D

I am so glad others feel the same way I do. I have TRIED to like him. I have even forced myself to listen to his CD but I just can't stomach it. I think he is horrible! And I don't know why people keep comparing him to Dave Matthews. I like DM and I think he is a very talented musician. John Mayer is not. He sounds like he's got some indigestion problems when he sings. Yuk! :-X

Ah, the dilemma of a folk-rocker. You want your music to seem earnest and sincere, but earnest and sincere doesn't get you chicks, which is what you got into music for in the first place.
John Mayer has found a way around that problem, and I applaud him.

John Mayer sucks he is a Dave Matthew rip-off, and his songwriting is boring. Ben Harper, Jeff Buckley, Mojave 3, Red House Painters, these are good acoustic groups not boring mainstream John Mayer. Moby is however not boring. Play was a very diverse, and interesting album. But his new one is nothing short of crap. R. Kelly is a joke! Feelin' On your boooooooooooty!" R U kidding me! What an asshole. His predecessors: Guys like Marvin Gaye who sang "Let's Get it on." with dignity. R. Kelly belongs in jail where he is.

IMO when it comes to music there are only two kinds; music I like and music I don't.
I can enjoy many genres; I am not going to limit myself -except for the songs that I do not care for. BTW I don't think I have ever liked anything by cannibal Corpse. :P
