Subject: Am I the only one?

Written By: John_Seminal on 12/09/02 at 09:03 p.m.

I just started a new job and I am exhausted all the time. Does anyone else feel like this. By the time I get home from work, eat dinner, watch a show or two, return phone calls, it is time for bed and another day of work. God have mercey on the days I have to do laundry or work around the house. I feel as if there is no real free time. Am I the only one who feels like 8 hours at work is like 20 and 6 hours after work is like 1? Even the weekends seem to pass fast.

And to my shock, I was listening to an 80s radio show in my town. A caller asked for "hit me with your best shot". The DJ asked the caller what year she was born in. She said 1989. I am getting too old. I wanna be young again.

Quit yer whinin'! ;)
I work full time, single parent of 2 kids under 6 (not by choice).  Try working all day and going home to work a lot more!  :P Every night at my house is clean up/laundry/dinner/referee/bathing/homework night.
You men are such babies! ;)
I'd love the chance to watch a show or two!
Wanna trade for a month John?
I am EXHAUSTED!

BTW, what are weekends?  You mean there's an END to the week?

Chide them not for they know not what is in a day's work: I didn't till having four kids, working all day, coming home and helping put aforementioned kiddies to bed, cooking, ironing then being woken in the middle of the night before waking, getting breakfast for five of us and back off to work again.

...and it ain't just men: my sister finds it harder doing less than pretty much anyone I know.

I think wearyness relates mostly about lack of motivation, not necessarily laziness or work load.  It's difficult to give up a major portion of your life if you're no enthusiastic about the career path your taking.
I have worked in the Alaska seafood industry for most of my adult life and have put in some very long hours, but when it's something that's enjoyed time passes quickly and at the end of the day there is a feeling of satisfaction.  I'm 36 years old now and have a career that involves 45-60 hours a week and took a part time March 1st where I work 10:15pm to 6:45am Fri. Sat. Sun.  I enjoy both, but that's 80 hours a week minimum, it's not bad and the rewards make it worthwhile for now.
I must state now that I have no children, when that time comes than no more than 45 hours a week.
Those with 2 or more children, be weary, it's deserved.

The area where I live, we really don't have a whole lot of choices about career opportunites.. small town life has it's rewards and it's drawbacks. Where I work I take phone calls all day from (usually) angry people who are having trouble with their health insurance. It  is very difficult to come home and take care of 3 children after being yelled at and called names all day long. But...Thank goodness that I have my job, there are quite a few ppl around here without one!

I could relate to that, I have being on the phone, especially with jerks, the only time I have to deal with that is some former disgrutled employee and I give them about 60 seconds of patiance.  Wants that's up I can tell 'em to F-off and call there lawyer.
Negative energy is exausting, I'm fortunate that I enjoy what I do.  Best wishes to you and your family.
