Let's face it.  If she had been some window washer's assistant or some file clerk, she's be sitting in jail right now.  I guess Whoopi Goldberg was right when she said in the movie ROCKY AND BULLWINKLE, "Celebrities are above the law!"

It's more like "Rich people are above the law," actually.

The thing that really pisses me of is the fact the the little tart didn't even have the decency to show any remorse or the guts to admit what she did......
Free For Wynona.....Free For Wynona >:(

What baffles me is why she would do it? She certainly hasn't explained herself...she has to have enough money to buy whatever she wants??? It really is too bad after the good she had done with Polly Klaas. And I agree, had that not been a celebrity the penalty would have been much larger.

Sorry, but that's complete twaddle - how many shoplifters are jailed for a first offence?  If it's any at all, I'll be extremely surprised. (OK, so it's probably not the first time she's shoplifted, but it's the first time she's been prosecuted/convicted and that's what counts).

Jail would be an unbelievably crass and stupid sentence which would benefit nobody at all - at least with a community sentence she'll have the chance to do something positive, rather than using up vast amounts of taxpayers' money locked up.

Yes but being in her celebrity position and KNOWING that she has exposure...would it have killed her to at least admit that she was wrong and is sorry ???

Maybe she's a klepto due to some unresolved psychological issue or maybe she's not right in the head because of her drug abuse. Either way, a psych evaluation is appropriate.

No, it wouldn't have killed her: but you think she should go to jail for that?

I work with and in prisons a lot - prison isn't a holiday camp where guys go to have a good time.  There ought to be compelling reasons for sending anybody to prison as there are other often more effective ways of dealing with offenders.

I feel no pity for a chick with a ton of money in her bank account and no sense in her head. Have you heard about all of the pain killers they found on her when she got caught? She is a total addict.
