Subject: Mst hated subject when in school.
Think back to your good ole school days. What was your worst/most hated subject?
The earlier thread about geography got me thinking about this, so I was just curious what you all thought.
My most hated subject was always math.
I just never seemed to get it. Math class was just a midday nap for me.
What about you?
Subject: Re: Mst hated subject when in school.
English. I called it "Organized Bullsh*tology" because that's what it was.
Subject: Re: Mst hated subject when in school.
Math definately!
Subject: Re: Mst hated subject when in school.
I always did (umm..for that matter, still do) hate math! :P
Subject: Re: Mst hated subject when in school.
All of them. (j/k)
My absolute worst was PE, especially when I had to dress into my gym shorts. And did I say I wasn't physically fit?
Subject: Re: Mst hated subject when in school.
I was never a fan of Trigonometry or Calculus. Wasn't crazy about Physics, either. :P
Subject: Re: Mst hated subject when in school.
My least favorite class was German. I was good at German, it's just that my German teachers were the worst teachers I've ever had. Subject-wise, I've never been any good at science.
Subject: Re: Mst hated subject when in school.
Algebra. :P
I just napped during that class. Actually caught myself drooling on my desk, no kidding.
This subject's proven to be totally useless, at least in my world. 8) Absolutely no need for it.
Has anyone here ever had a need for Algebra, outside of school? Unless you're a Scientist or an Architect, that is. ;D

English was my most hated subject, until I had a good teacher in college. Then I started liking books. But in high school, I hated those essay questions which asked you to interpret vauge events in a novel. At least with math you know if you anwser is right or wrong.

I would have to say math as well, and 80's Triv, if you got that far, then you may not have liked it but you did better than most!

Unlike English and Science, I find no need for the Advanced Mathematics whatsoever in my life. That said, I always used to fall asleep in Science, and I'm enjoying the Mathematics syllabus I'm taking at the moment. I knew that on the grounds that I'd enjoy the work I'd be taking for one, if not two years, then I could cope with Mathematics for that much time.
Personally I was never that much of a fan of PSE (Personal and Social Education) (basically, in English schools, this was used as an hour long excuse to get some admin completed, rather than learning anything.)

Science....I just wasn't cut out to wear a lab coat....and then there was the sulphuric acid incident.....*shudder*

I too hated maths, failed my exam 3 times before I retook it AGAIN and finally passed!
Subject: Re: Mst hated subject when in school.
Had to be Algebra. It would have helped if we had a good teacher. The teacher was rather firm in his belief that girls were incapable of grasping any math concept whatsoever. What a jerk! And that is why I went on to major in English in college.

Lol - I remember the good ol' days of doin PSE back in school. My form tutor used to let me and my best mates go and practise our dance routines whenever a school show was coming up so I missed out on tonnes of those boring as hell lessons!!
I never used to like Maths really. I had a terrible teacher for my last two years and dreaded going. It wasn't that I was bad at it, beacuse I used to do pretty well, but he brought my self confidence down loads. He told my parents that I should have taken the intermediate paper but they knew I could do the higher - so I took it and got a B - showed him! Shame he wasn't at school on results day cause I would have stuck that piece of paper right in his face!
One quick question. Does anyone know why in England we say 'Maths' and in the US, they say 'Math'. I mean, where did the 's' turn up, or disappear for that matter?

Perhaps it is because your curriculae in the UK is different from ours (please correct me if I'm wrong). I have read that UK education tests their students to determine which profession they will study in university, and groom said student for the specific major or profession. Maybe the different math classes in different professional "routes" is why you say "maths"...which may be more appropriate since some people just need simple arithmetic whereas others have to take geometry and advanced linear algebra :) That's just a speculation though.
I agree with some of you that English may be more useful in the long run than math(s) in most professions. I think the arguments and writing styles you form in English class stay with you for life and can help you, at the very least, LOOK intelligent. What I think I really hated about English class was not so much the content but the lack of traditional grammar and spelling training. I also hated the stuck up buttheads in the class who liked to use five-syllable words when a simple two-syllable word would have sufficed.
I do remember liking Catcher In The Rye and Lord of the Flies though. So it wasn't a complete waste.

Global History was just too difficult. All those countries you had to remember were hard to absorb.the people, places and things.Plus,Math was not my best subject either. -howard-
