Subject: "The Ring"
has anyone seen this movie? We were considering it, but I haven't heard much about it lately.

hey 80s man...
The Ring is a remake of some Japanese movie of the same name. It's supposed to be a thriller type movie a la Blair Witch or Signs. A couple of factors to take in:
A) Naomi Watts is HOT
B) As of this weekend, it has hopped the $100 million mark which is usually a big sign of success, plus it has staying ability which means it's received lots of positive word-of-mouth.
It's supposedly really scary though, so as Horatio Sanz in his Gene Shalit impersonation said, "Ring around the rosey...skidmarks in my pants!" :)

Yea, one of the theaters here in town showed the Japanese verison for a few weeks along side the American version.
I've heard mixed reviews about it. On one hand, I've heard it was really scary and suspenseful, but on the other hand I've heard it was lame and predictable. So, I guess you just have to assume it will be an median of both reviews and go from there.
Anyway, my better half and I will probably see it this week.

Have fun at the movie. Some people are just cynical, but the box office numbers don't lie :)
By the way, Naomi Watts is also a very good actress ;)

I saw it opening night. And I must say, while it didn't scare me, it definitely was creepy. Good ending. Brought my 10 yr old son to see it with me, who's been watching horror flicks with me since he was 3 (long story, but he loves 'em to death) and he was scared a little by it. First time for him. Definitely worth the money, though.

I have not had goosepimples from a scary movie in a long time, and this one gave them to me more than once. I would not call The Ring a horror movie, because it is not one of those gory Texas Chainsaw Massicar movies. It is more of a creepy, scary thriller.
One side note, I would NOT take kids to see this movie. It will seriously freak them out. If you do take them, do not be suprised if they complain of nightmares.
