Subject: Flinttown representing in '8 Mile'!

That was a great movie!  For those that seen it, remember the part when the guuys were in the back and kept saying 313?  One guy told Cheddah (white dude) man you from the 810,  well that area code is Flint, Michigan.  Just thought I point that out:)  They lucky they didn't say 989 ;)

I don't care how many critics liked it. Wild horses couldn't drag me to see a movie with that ghost thug Eminem. Glad you enjoyed it, though, Sag.

I'm with you.  I think I'd rather have a root canal with no anaesthetic...

I'm glad I'm not the only one that wouldn't waste my time on this movie. ::)

Unlike the others here (other than Sag), I am actually interested in seeing this movie.

$55 million on the opening weekend.  That's insanity.  I did read good reviews though, so I might consider seeing it even though I don't think rap qualifies as "real music" :P

What co-incidence! The top movie last week was called Jack@ss, and the top movie this week stars one!

Actually, last week's top movie was Santa Claus 2 :)  the week before that belonged to Jackass.

I'd give this movie a chance...at least at the matinee price.  It was very enjoyable.

I liked how it portrayed those "rap-off" contests as insultathons :)  The acting was pretty good, but I didn't really detect much of a plot...just a lot of character development.  I would definitely say it's worth the matinee price, which is what I paid.

Man, I get into the movies for free, but I wouldn't go see Eminem. Much respect for his craft and his music and all that...but it just doesn't fit. Eminem and Kim Basinger? Nah...It's like seeing Weird Al Yankovic in a serious movie with Robert Deniro...you won't take it seriously.

Hey man, Weird Al is a GREAT actor!  UHF was classic, Oscar-worthy material!  :)

Man see it's people like you that are closed minded just because of the star.  There's people I know that don't like eminem, but went to see it anyways.  Like all of them said it looked pretty good so they decided to check it out.  They ended up liking it.  I was telling my dad about it, and he said he wouldn't mind seeing it.  I just feel pity for yous who are so close-minded, you're missing a world of opportunities.

Oh I'm sorry.  Did I offend you?  Does it bother you that I have no interest in seeing a no-talent hack get a starring role in a film because he's Hollywood's flavor of the day?  With a script that does not interest me AT ALL?  I don't like rap, why would I like a story about a rapper?  The previews look like crap to me, the story strikes me as utterly uninteresting, the music turns me off, and I can't stand the actor.  So, do you really think I should pony up the $7 and waste a couple of hours of my life that would be better spent on something I know I'll enjoy?  I don't think so.

I don't consider myself close-minded, I just know my tastes.  You don't.  Get over it.  You liked it.  Fine.  Don't insult the rest of us just because we're not interested in Eminem or what he does.

You get the Post of the Day Award.

My thoughts exactly.  10 years from now when people say, "remember that Emenim guy", people will say, "oh yea, he's that wannabe rapper who sang about killing his wife".

Wow, what a role-model.  If I despise the star, why on earth would I want to see his life-story?

I don't particularly like Eminem, but I must admit he is quite the wordsmith.  He can string words together and make some pretty powerful lyrics, he just needs to get over himself and not take himself so seriously.  The thing with Triumph was hilarious though, especially the press conference.  "Hey my mom was a bitch as well, but I don't go writing songs about it."

Anyway, the movie looks interesting in a TV movie kind of way, get what I mean.  But I will probably end up seeing it at the cinema.

Sag, like I said, I got respect for Eminem. Before he got all angry and crazy, he was funny. It just ain't my cup of tea. Plus, his angst limits him to perpetual typecasting. You can only play the angry white guy rapper so many times before people get tired of it. What's he going to do after his fame dies out? Let's be real...Eminem might be the flavor right now...but what's he gonna do in a year? Sell real estate?
