HOLLYWOOD, CA- Britney Spears, whose song "Cinderella" has been the #1 song in America since the album was released, has decided to record a prog-rock album. Max Martin and Rodney Jerkins are out; Jim Steinman, Roger Waters, Dennis DeYoung, Bruce Dickinson, and Mutt Lange are in. Britney will be the only songwriter on the rock opera double album, entitled "The Grand Wall of Illusions and the Dark Side of the Garden of Eden's Rocky Horror of Sgt. Pepper's Hair's Stairway to Experience and Quadropheniacal Bats Out of Hell."

Spears says of the album, "In recent years, I have been influenced by the 1970s rock and roll supergroups. I decided to write lengthy, theatrical, operatic, orchestral songs with lengthy guitar solos. I expect to get major FM rock radio airplay."

Waters says he did this album because, "I love Britney Spears. She is the best songwriter since myself. But the main reason I decided to produce this lengthy album is because on her third album, she had this song, 'Lonely,' which sampled m'song, 'Brick in the Wall.' How could I say no?"

Many songs were referenced in this album. Examples of songs referenced:

"I Cherish Thee" ("There's nothing for me to do/But go crazy on you")
"Weakness" ("I, I just died in your arms tonight/Must have been somp'n you said")
"Mystic Man" ("Winter nights so long ago...", "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida, baby", "Knights in white satin/Never reaching the end")
"Making Love to the Devil" ("Welcome to the grand illusion/Come on in and see what's happening/Pay the price and get your tickets to the show")

There are planty more where that came from.

The album will contain three hours of Britney Spears backed up by electric guitars and an orchestra. When asked to comment on this decision, Spears replied, "It worked for Pink Floyd when Animals failed and they put out the Wall. I wrote, like, sixty different songs of lyrical and musical brilliance. Now, if you'll excuse me, I shall intend to repose until I am fully energized again. I am the Lizard Queen, and need my great slumber. I have been but too busy recording my rock opera record and making myriad music."

And so, Britney went back into her Los Angeles mansion and napped all day. Her rock opera, "The Grand Wall of Illusions and the Dark Side of the Garden of Eden's Rocky Horror of Sgt. Pepper's Hair's Stairway to Experience and Quadropheniacal Bats Out of Hell" hits stores on July 7, 2007 (07/07/07). Until then, Britney is unveiling her best-of compilation, "Stages." It will feature unreleased material in addition to the classics.

Not only is Waters now a bad judge of Britney's "talent"; the drugs he's been taking haven't helped cure his false delusions of grandeur. ::)

That photo of Jimmy Page and his double-neck guitar is now the official album cover for "The Grand Wall of Illusions..."

Also, the album's release date has been moved to a sonner date: March 3, 2003 (03/03/03), following in the tradition of Styx's "Grand Illusion" album.

I would like to thank you people for keeping this thread alive and kickin':). Brit's gonna rock singing rock. It'll sound just like a mix of The Wall, Dark Side of the Moon, Grand Illusion, In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida, Boston, Sgt. Pepper, Led Zeppelin IV, Bat Out of Hell, Pieces of Eight, Crystal Ball, Cornerstone, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, London Calling, Meddle, Tommy especially, Quadrophenia, and every other prog-rock album in the 1960s-1970s; it will mostly be 70s-rock-influenced.

And no, Syncronos, I'm not mad at you for warping the thread. It was warped to begin with. ;)

December 7, 2002: A day that will live in happiness and....

anticipation(no pun intended)

Suppposed "pop" singer tunred 1970s rocker Britney Jean Spears's new album will be her epic rock opera, "The Grand Wall of Illusions and the Dark Side of the Garden of Eden's Rocky Horror of Sgt. Pepper's Hair's Stairway to Experience and Quadrophonic Bats Out of Hell." (previously ".......Quadropheniacal," but that wasn't a real word). Here are some of the current songs that may or may not make the album in no particular order:

Title track f/Jimmy Page
(A 27 1/2-minute epic rocker featuring a 23-minute guitar solo and such lyrics as:
"Twas a dark and stormy evening in Black Forty-Four")

Mystic Stairway
(a 16:27 rocker that samples the famous "Dun dun da-da-da dun" riff off of Iron Butterfly's "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida." This song is a 99.9% simulation of Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven.")

Dogs
(Not much is known of this song, but false rumors have claimed that it is a rewrite of Pink Floyd's "Dogs" off of the "Animals" album. But here are some of the lyrics: "You are barking up the wrong tree/Dogs/Did you expect us to treat you with any respect at all?/Dogs" The lyrics do get much deeper and more poetic than that.

Gothicism f/ Osbournes, Black Sabbath, Metallica, and Jim Steiman
(Album co-producer Jim Steinman will sing/play on this 26:30 track. Here are some of the lyrics: "I came across a mystic village of foreigners/They were savages I thought, with no written language or religion/But they harmonize and croon/And sing a miraculously melodic/And merry tune")

Cinderella
(this is the same Cinderella that she wrote/sang on her third album, but this time it's 27 1/2 minutes in length. And Britney plays piano, organ, guitar, bass, and drums on this tune, which also features the London Symphony Orchestra.)

Boys II
(An epic rock sequel to the Pharrell song, "Boys.")

I Cherish Thee
(Featuring the chorus from Crazy On You hidden within the mighty lyrics of this mesmerizing song. Featuring Britney on piano, organ, harmonica, guitar, and co-producer Roger Waters on bass.)

That's all for now. But I'll keep you posted. :)

You're kidding about this whole Prog Rock thing, right? (Girl doesn't even know who Pat Benatar really is). It would be frightening if this was true... btw, Osbourne/Black Sabbath and Metallica are not Gothic, nor have they ever made anything resembling it. They are Metal. Britney Spears has begun writing a new song for the rock opera entitled "My Revenge on Pepsi." It will contain a 40-minute guitar solo performed by the singer herself. Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones will play bass on the track. Iron Butterfly's Ron Bushy will supply drums. And Spears will sing, play piano, keyboards, organ, harmonica, double-neck electric guitar, flying-V electric guitar, keytar, synthesizer, fretless bass, saxophone, and xylophone.

THIS JUST IN

In memoriam of the late great frontman of the Clash, Joe Strummer (1952-2002), singer/songwriter/musician/1970s-incluenced prog-metal rocker Britney Jean Spears has begun writing the lyrics to a brand new Shineonyoucrazydiamondesque song about Strummer. I managed to sit down with Britney to discuss the song and more info on the album:

PF Now, Britney, as you may already know, I have been reporting on your fourth album, "The Grand Wall of Illusions and the Dark Side of the Garden of Eden's Rocky Horror of Sgt. Pepper's Hair's Stairway to Experience and Quadrophonic Bats Out of Hell." Now, first, let's discuss the new song you're currently writing about Joe Strummer.

BS Well, I had written the melody I am planning on using for the song, after the tragic death of Jam Master Jay. I was so shocked and depressed that I just got out my guitar and started churning out all these powerful riffs and chords. But I hadn't gotten around to the lyrics, because I was writing the other songs on the album. There are supposed to be sixty lengthy rock/metal/punk songs on this album.

PF And so, you turned on the television and saw nothing on the TV but news on punk rock's fallen hero? I got it. Rumour has it that you are going to keep all the songs and the album itself secure until its release date.

BS I'm not taking any chances like I did with my self-titled. I want my album to sell better and actually get major radio airplay. I'm hoping rock, metal, and punk stations pick up on the album and start playing my compositions.

PF You went from pop to rock in a flash. Why the big switch?

BS I have finally come to realize that pop, unhip-flop, and R&Z were horrible musical styles to begin with. And we all know my voice and soul best fit rock and roll music. My voice was meant to be backed up by electric guitars, pianos, harmonicas, a symphony, and orchestra, strings, electric bass guitars, drums, electric organs, and other things associated with 1970s progrssive rock. I've got to go now: I need to write more songs, do more interviews, finish writing the script for the stage, tour, and motion picture adaptations of the albums, visit my family for Christmas and New Year's, and get lots of sleep.

PF Well, it was such a pleasure chatting with you, Britney. The album comes out in November of 2003, I'm hoping. Buy it when it comes out.

Eddie Van Halen
A Flock of Seagulls
Keith Emerson
ELO
Doobie Brothers
Mike Oldfield
Rod Stewart
Jimmy Page
Jeff Beck
Eric Clapton
Ozzy
Jethro Tull
Bob Dylan
Iron Butterfly
And a bunch of other popular recording artists from the day

to par-tiiiiiiii-ci-pate on "The Day the World Got Really Screwed Up." Spears is busy writing the song at the moment and expects it to be finished by Valentine's Day 2003, if she remembers not to stop writing the song to eat, sleep, or pee.

I bet she's gonna pull a Rip Van Winkle (Not that guy who became Vanilla Ice ;)) after completing this album and get some serious sleep. Believe it or not, she hasn't eaten, slept, gone to the bathroom, etc., during the making of this album.

With the recent passing of one of her photographers and video directors, Mr. Herb Ritts, Britney Spears is now writing a 39:05 epic rocker about the late director of the music videos "Don't Let Me Be the Last to Know" (Spears) "Gone" (Nsync) and shot the photos for Spears' self-titled third masterpiece. That album showcased Britney's ever-growing change in musical direction, and worship for 1970s rock and roll ("I Love Rock and Roll" was written and originally recorded in 1975 by the Arrows and later covered by Joan Jett). Looks like Britney has been listening to a lot more Pink Floyd, ELO, ELP, Moody Blues, Doobie Brothers, Meatloaf, Hendrix, Janis, The Doors, Queen, Zeppelin, Thin Lizzy, Steve Miller, Styx, early ZZ Top and Van Halen, CCR, Iron Butterfly, Beatles, The Who, Paul Rebvere and the Raiders, Blue Öyster Cult, ABBA, Jefferson Airplane, Spirit/Randy California, Eric Burden and the Animals, Lynard Skynard, Fleetwood Mac, Wings, Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Mike Oldfield, etc. Rumour has it that the song will be fully-instrumental.

I recently sat down with Britney --AGAIN-- this time, to discuss some of the songs she has written for the album:

PF It's a pleasure seeing you again, Brit.
BS And I'm glad I ran into you again, too. You're such a cool person. How would you like to play keyboards, or maybe even sing, on some of the tracks on my album?

PF That would really make my day...... Oh yeah, back to the interview. Now first, I want to discuss the latest song you have been writing about Herb Ritts. Rumor has it that it is the "Misery" song that was issued on many of your websites.
BS I'm not familiar with "Misery" as a song.
PF Turns out it was just a practical joke that I happened to fall for.
BS Anyway, the song I'm writing about Herb Ritts is entitled, "The Man Who Grew Up to Become a Legendary Photographer." That's just the working title for now; we might change the title eventually.

PF Can I hear what you've written so far of the song, please?
BS For you anything. I'm still working on it, though.

PF That song was beautiful and brilliant, which always occurs when you write a song. I mean, another song of yours, "Cinderella," is a classic. I love that spoken verse: "Forced to say I want you...." "....You cast me in your spell/I did everything you wanted me to/But now I shall/Break free from all your lies/I won't be blind, you see/My love it can't be sacrificed/I won't return to thee."

PF classic verse from a classic song. Now flashing forward to your fourth masterpiece: you say there are to be sixty songs on this album and two discs. How many of those sixty songs have you written so far?
BS Forty-five, and a half. The songs are all supposed to be at least ten minutes each, or longer.

PF Lengthwise, I guess you love "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida"?
BS It really is the best way to kill of seventeen minutes. We'll Cinderella's got to go. I've got Nile Rodgers, Styx, ELO, and a bunch of 70s rockers waiting outside.

PF How about a date on....Friday night?
BS Sure Friday night at 7:00, Mountain time.
PF Got it. Thanks, Brit!

Actually, Hairspray, a lot of people elsewhere still care about Britney Spears. I mean, me and the rest of the fans agree, she is the best of the best IOO. Britney's one reason for doing this album is to attract more fans and more attention, and to actually get AIRPLAY this time, unlike the self-titled (Biggest single off the third album peaked at #27 :'() I am repoprting all this news to you all because I really care about Britney Jean Spears and everything she does, as long as it's rock and roll related (NO smoking, NO drinking, NO drugging, NO lost virginity, etc.) Britney and I have both dreamed of the day that she puts out a progressive rock album, and the time has come.

What fake interviews??? These are actual interviews I did when Britney gave me special permission to be the only insider on this album. She knew I would be the only reliable, official source on her fourth LP, and first double. Not one news article or interview was made up. You'll even hear me play the 11-minute keyboard solo on the song about Herb Ritts.

PF4Eva,

What's the point of this thread when you cannot be taken seriously, I ask?

Nothing personal, but It would take actually seeing it in print in a well-known respectable news broadcast, entertainment broadcast, magazine, newspaper, MTV even, for me to even consider any of this even a possibility of a shadow of a fact.

It's just not believable. None of it. Sorry.  :-/

I don't know, but I think this should not be taken seriously  :(   .  If those are for real, those covers (even tentative) could earn an infringement lawsuit against her.
Besides, what had Elijah Wood got to do with Britney, may I ask?
Also, didn't you find that a bit exaggerating when Brit will play about ten instruments in one song?  Come on, relax!  For (most) Britney haters out there, let's just wait for the real thing to pop up before we strike with our venom!   ;D

C'mon, if Steve Windwood can play ten, twenty instruments per song, so can Britney Jean Spears. I got a lot of this info from very reliable sources, as well as from Britney and Jive. Hey, Mike Olfield (That Tubular Bells dude) played, like, 200 instruments on Tubular Bells (Theme to the Exorcist)! :o

LATEST NEWS:

Britney recently ran into Heart singer/guitarist/pianist Ann Wilson, on the recent filming of Ghostbusters 3. Both Spears and Wilson have cameos in the movie. Spears wants to jam with Wilson on a couple of tracks on her rock opera, "The Grand Wall of Illusions and the Dark Side of the Garden of Eden's Rocky Horror of Sgt. Pepper's Hair's Stairway to Experience and Quadrophonic Bats Out of Hell." The two songs are supposedly titled "The Mystical, Tragic, Cursed Fjords of Norway" and "Recharge Grandmothers Exactly."

Britney Spears is set to appear on the legendary Nickelodeon sketch-comedy extravaganza, "All That." I recently went on a long quest to find out what she has in store, but Spears wouldn't budge. The an-tiiiiiiii-ci-pa-tion (Britney song reference ; she wrote this one, too; It's disco-esque) has been too much. Be sure to watch "All That" this Saturday on Nickelodeon. Check local listings for time and channel number.

These words do not describe the show "All That".  It actually used to be kind of good until it started sucking the past four or five years.  The actors on that show suck, seriously.  It isn't even the least bit humourous!  But then everything on Nickelodeon has sucked the past few years, but that's a different thread.

UPDATE: 1/18/03 (MY BIRTHDAY IS IN 10 DAYS!!!!)

I'm assuming that since you get your pics from Amazon, you go to CDNOW.  And you type in the artist you want in the search box, ya know... And then you get small pictures of the albums, and I always assumed you clicked on the picture of the album to make them bigger, and then copied and pasted the image into your sig line.

Or, an easy way to do it (this is what I do) is go to images.google.com and type in the name of the album you want in the search box (for example:  "pink floyd the wall") and you will come up with this  http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&lr=&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=%22pink+floyd+the+wall%22&sa=N&tab=wi

There are many album covers to chose from.  Left-Click on the album cover you want, then right-click on the picture, click "properties", copy-and-paste as an image.  For example, you might come up with this one (see below) which is a smaller version that takes up less space.

Britney Spears and legendary album-cover artist Storm Thorgerson (Dark Side of the Moon, The Wall, Animals, Cyclorama, etc.) are still conjuring up the ultimate album cover for "Grand Wall" and here is the latest, and most likely the official album cover:

http://www.thebigview.com/buddhism/great-wall.jpg

Fits the mood of the album perfectly. :)

Also, the album was set for release today, but they still had to find an album cover, so it's being pushed back a couple months. But I'll keep you updated when I can.
