I would like to see Bonds get a ring, but I think the Angels are too hot right now. Anaheim in 6 games.

all I know, is those awful Yankees aren't playing, so I don't care who wins.

Either team is fine, since at least one of them beat the Yankees.

I'm the exact opposite. I root for everyone in the American League except the Yankees. ;D

Of course, I'm a Mariners fan, and since they didn't make it, I don't care too much..but I'm THRILLED to see the Yanks sitting home alone this October!!  ;D

You know, I'll bet 90% of baseball fans hate the Yankees, and that's been true for at least 80 years.  And, I'll also bet that 95% of professional ballplayers secretly, in their heart of hearts, want to play for the Yankees.

Subject: Re: World Series

I never could get that.  I guess professionals wants to play for winners than be happy with a team that doesn't win that much. No professional ever said they wanted to play for the Brewers.

Are you sure, Indy?  It seems to me that Robin Yount stayed with Milwaukee even though he had better offers from other teams.

There are some players out there who stuck with their teams.  Cal Ripken, Kirby Puckett, Yount.  Not a lot, but some.

Thanks dagwood  ;)  I also wish the they would dissolve Those two teams instead of the Twinkies and Expos, and for all the owners to quit offerring these guys so much $'s AND if that happened, for all the owners to agree to balance out the salaries..AND for the players to realize it's just a game....AND for both sides to realize that without the fans they'd all go broke....AND for the fans to then ALL stop going until this greed stops.  Last but not least...I wish it was more like the old American Basketball Association, where you could take a family of 5 to a game, have a meal and spend less than $25.  Wow it's pretty early...I must still be dreaming ::)

I just read that the TV ratings for the first two games was down 8% from last years New York vs. Arizona series and down 20% from the NY vs. NY series 2 years ago. All I can say is, those 20% are missing whats turning out to be a classic.

I believe that World Series featuring two teams from the same state pulls down the TV ratings. The Yankees-Mets Series was one of the lowest rated in history, and the A's-SF Giants series in 1991 wasn't the same after the earthquake. I don't really care which California team wins it, I'm just not up to it this year. I'm still waiting on a Cubs-White Sox or Reds-Indians series.

By then the powers that be would have so thoroughly screwed over baseball that it will be a dead sport.  Sorry, Red Sox/Indians/White Sox/Cubs fans.

How about dem Giants though?  :D

Its a shame the viewership is so far down for this series. Its turning out to be a classic. Did anyone see the "greatest moment of all time" segment before the game last night. I especially LOVED the ovation Pete Rose got. Finally the recognition he deserves.

Subject: Re: World Series

I think it's partly because:

A) it's on the west coast only and east coast folk think the sports and broadcasting world revolve around them (no offense)

B) it's all CA so other people can't relate

C) nobody really gives a hoot about the Giants or the Angels

D) I HATE the rally monkey (I like monkeys in general, but this monkey is the devil) and so do other people.

Other than that, I've enjoyed it thus far (except in game 3 when the Angels batted around twice, that was lame)

I'd like to update my prediction to SF in 6, because I think now's the time that the Giants finally step up, plus they have the momentum now...

I can't stand to see SoCal get the best of the Bay Area, that's a no-no    ;)

I was kinda annoyed when I had to leave the game (on the tube that is) during the 7th inning to go to dinner...when I got back home to watch the end it was too late to use my superior karma...sigh

Well since most of the Angels have never been in the Series before, even with other teams, they have nothing to lose. And their manager, Mike Soshcia, knows how to win titles, since he did it as the Dodgers catcher in '83.

You can't rule out a team just because they are down by 5 points.  I have seen it happen before.  I still say Giants in 7.
