Subject: Late Night Talk Shows
I'll bring up the major two in the U.S. which are "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno" and the one with David Letterman.
I guess it's obvious (because I didn't have a clue as to the official name of DL's) which one I watch when the opportunity arises. I think Jay Leno is actually funny and down to earth. His show's well done and I especially like the special nightly sketches, "Headlines" and "Jaywalking" being my favorites. ;D Jay's certainly not pretentious.
David Letterman can be obnoxious. His show's unnapealing to me, Paul Schaeffer(sp?) being the worst "element". The sketches aren't nearly as funny as Jay's, but more stupid than anything else. And that's my opinion folks. ;)
Which show do you like best and why? All opinions are respected, of course. :)
If there are other Late Night Talk Shows (anywhere in the world) you'd like to include, feel free!

I like Conan O' Brien he can always make anything sound funny. Craig Kilborn always has fun with his guests. I think Conan O' Brien has a slight edge over Kilborn though. Leno is the man though.

I agree and I'll throw this in -
Conan's the man too.

David-
I think he's smarter than Leno and his show is too. Leno is terrible interviewer and his sidekick music guy does nothing but giggile. Paul is a goof but he, Dave and everyone else are laughing at his persona.
Conan is great but I have to get up to early to catch him.
Comedy Central has Jon ? (drew a blank) at 11:00, they have the best opening sequece witht their take on the headlines.

Jon Stewart. ;)

I like Letterman.
Conan is OK.
Don't much care for Leno.
Subject: Re: Late Night Talk Shows
I don't like late night television, but it's better than daytime television.
Conan is not funny at all. Leno and Letterman are passable, but not that funny (and I don't like the idea of part of I-465 named after Letterman.) Kilborn gets on my nerves.

Conan is pretty funny, but I don't watch a lot of late night talk shows. I couldn't stand Bill Maher.

I'm with Junior. Jon Stewart!
Subject: Re: Late Night Talk Shows
I love Conan. Jay takes himself too seriously, and I just don't like Dave's sense of humour. Conan's great because he is very self-deprecating, and the sketches he does with Max are downright hilarious.
Subject: Re: Late Night Talk Shows
Conan wins hands down. Leno is a hack and is nothing without his writers. Letterman is an obnoxious old windbag. And Kilborn, well, what can I say, he's unfunny and boring. The only thing Kilborn is good for is thats he's a cure for insomnia.
Conan is naturally funny by himself and like someone else said earlier, he is always making jokes about himself, and its hilarious. Conan wins.

Dave

Speaking of Dave, I live in his home state(Indiana). Now, normally you would just assume that if you were a celebrity that people from your home state would like you, right. Well not us. If you took a poll, I would bet 75% of people from Indiana think Letterman is a jerk. I have never cared for him, but what took the cake was when he had the nerve to have Bill Clinton on his show on Sept. 11, knowing that it would air immediately followong President Bush's memorial ceremony speech in New York City. And Clinton was criticizing Bush and saying what he would have done blah blah blah. Anyway, not to get political, Letterman and Clinton deserve each other, They are BOTH scum.

I'm not much of a late-nite hound (or TV at all), but of the 2 biggies whom I've definitely had my share, I prefer Leno.
-Leno has a candid style more than wry style; his personality seems lighter.
-Dave is ugly. Sorry, I just can't look at him long. Leno may have a big chin but he's not overall strange looking. Dave should stick to radio.
-Leno had some nutty skits in the past, anyway. Altho', now he's doing too much dumb-boring audience stuff and has forgotten the great Beyondo and Mr. Brain stuff which was visually as well as verbally funny. Bring back Beyondo! But I'm glad he still does Headlines.
-Dave's constant Top 10 for 10 years now? Like every day? Stupid! Once a week maybe; better less than that.
-Leno had great skits/jokes during Clinton years; too bad Clinton's gone. Yes, I rarely tired of it! Sorry, Dems!
-Leno has great taste in cars. ;D

My vote goes to Dave so, Letterman leads 4 to 2 as far as I can tell ;)

Na-ah. More people like Conan and then Leno. Dave's in the minority. ;)

Conan :)
No one else would dare do Masturbating Bear or Triumph the Insult Comic Dog.

The count I see is:
Leno 3
Letterman 4
Stewart 2
O'Brien 4
But I won't stand by it cuz some didn't make it clear for whom they were voting as best, or if they were voting at all or just clarifying..... ???

Thanks for clarifying that, Rebel. I had a hard time figuring that out as well ;)

Another vote for Letterman!

Conan!!!!
Speaking of Dave, here's another example of how his home state doesn't like him. Over the past 10 years, he has tried to get his alma mater(Ball State Univ.) to name something, make that Anything, in his honor, you know like the football stadium or a dorm or something like that. Citizens refused. A few years ago, they did name a visual arts class after him, but thats it. He also now seriously wants to name a stretch of I-465 in his honor, and again, we said NO. If there is ever a vote on it my vote will definitely be NO. I don't want people traveling on I-465 to know that old windbag is from this state!
