Subject: Hillbillies Try To Become Civilized
(AP)Los Angeles-Up from CBS comes a-bubblin'-crude, with the network developing a reality series based on the old "Beverly Hillbillies" sitcom.
CBS is palnning to cast a weekly half-hour series that will chronicle the lives of a rural, lower-middle class family as they move into a luxurious Beverly Hills mansion.
The Project is tentatively called "Real Beverly Hillbillies", the trade newspaper Variety reported Wednesday.

OMG :o I heard this on the radio yesterday
The original was woeful enough (I realise there are many who liked it, I apologise, it's just MHO)
But to mix it with a reality show is the one sure-fire way of making it worse still.... ::)

that's just a level of wrong that shouldn't be explored. and i think it's kinda rude to do that to people because you know the whole point of the show has to be to see the nouveau riche either make total fools of themselves or crack because of criticism from the old money or both. it should be canned before it even airs.

I heard that in responce fox was going to do a reality series bassed on Green Acres, where well-to-do urbanites have to deal with country life.

People love to see others being made the fool. It's sad and it's wrong, but they do. And it's even more appealing when it's a group of people like "hillbillies" -- although I'm not sure if a 'lower-middle class' family exactly qualify as hillbillies? -- who are generally the subject of ridicule anyway.
You know what would make a great reailty show? A white, middle-class family moving into a rundown apartment in a rundown tenement in a disadvantaged neighbourhood. I'd like to see that.

I think that the two shows mentioned above feature people that are as far from "reality" as one can get! ;)
It will end when people figure out that these reality shows are staged, and finally quit watching.
