Subject: Tonights VMA Music Awards

(Here is a quick rundown of what I thought, feel free to respond with points I may have mist or overlooked)

Rock made a strong showing at the MTV VMA's

It has been quite a few years since I have been able to sit through an entire MTV awards show without being disgusted. Tonight certain performances gave me that same feeling, while others were rather enlightening.

The Show started off with Jimmy Fallon doing parodies of today's most popular songs.  Unfortunately, this was the Best part of his performance.  His latter jokes were lacking and kept rehashing the same joke about about a fat guy eating a person over and over.

As for the awards given, only rock bands won a few.  The rest seemed to be one buy R&B and Rap stars.  Pink was the one of the only pop stars to win an award winning many times for "Get this party Started".  Not that Britney, Christina, and Justin were absent, they just didn't have as strong a showing as the last few years.

The worst performance of the night was Justin Timberlake performing by himself for the first time. The song was Horrible and his dance moves were Michael Jackson in style.  Sheryl Crow did a tribute performance to New York, with pictures of the city in the background.  It wasn't a bad performance, but it felt worn out.

Despite the Lack of Awards, rock did make a strong rebirth at the awards show.  Pink changed formats from here usual R&B and performed a rock song.  The Boss was there to perform his new song, a sight that would not have been seen in earlier years.   The Hive and the Vines also performed their blend of rock, not bad at all.  The Best performance was the surprise at the end, when a reunited Gun in Roses showed up and played "Welcome to the Jungle"as well as a new (I think) unnamed song.

Of the award winners Pink, Eminem, and No doubt cleaned up taking home the most awards.  I was disappointed that POD, Linkin Park, and creed didn't win more.  Also some of the groups that had Major songs this year were strangely absent, Default, Nickleback, The Calling to name a few.

The show was okay but I'm mad that Linkin Park lost to No Doubt in the Best Group Video category. No Doubt's video was stupid and their song was annoying! Don't get me wrong, I do like No Doubt, but that song drove me up the wall (and I'm a major Linkin Park fan  ;D)! I did like when T-Boz and Chilli paid tribute to Left Eye. It was really sad. :'( Oh, and I particularly enjoyed it when Eminem insulted Moby. That was funnier than Jimmy Fallon's stupid jokes.

I prefer Eminem. And I still think Moby deserved the insults he got and I really wish Eminem would have smacked him. At least it would have made the show more interesting...

I think Eminem started it, but I don't know the background of how the argument came about. I do want to know what was that Dog puppet? and how is he famous?

That was Triumph, the insult comic dog. I'm not sure why he if famous. He seemed pretty stupid to me, but that's just my opinion.

The Players may have changed but the game is still the same.  I still have no clue how they decide the winners, and the fans are still left in out of the process, just like in 83.

Art one time MTV probably ment something. I don't watch the VMA's but I saw some highlights of the 1998 VMA's back in 98 which wasn't bad(this was six to nine months before Britney and Jennifer Lopez came to the music scene.) I noticed ever since MTV got involved with that Britney and Nelly crap music they just haven't been the same music station. Admit it people music is just all about the almighty dollar now its not even about creating the best music you can create. Its about creating a top 40 radio hit wether it sounds like crap or not and putting it on the radio just to make money. Music has been really dissapointing ever since the teen-pop trend started in 99.

I believe this whole mess started in January 1997, It seems like I got back from christmas 1996 and Music had changed, Instead of Counting Crows, Bush, and STP,  everybody was hooked on the Spice girls.  Hansan, Aqua, BSB also had hits that year.
