Four airlines are in grave financial trouble, including too of the US's largest carriers United, and US Air. Personally, I am sad to see people loose thier jobs, but the airlines did this too themselfs by providing crappy service at a high price. Maybe consumers are tired of the airport security hassle, flights always taking off late, the long lines, and crappy customer service.
