Subject: Modern Day Classic Books
Well, we've had music and movies, so why not books as well? I'm taking classic to mean whatever you want it to mean; personal favourite, something timeless, something universally popular etc etc... Just to keep it comparatively modern, shall we say 70s onward?
1. Dune - Frank Herbert
2. Trainspotting - Irvine Welsh
3. Ben Okri - The Famished Road
4. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas - Hunter S Thompson
5. The Scholar - Courtettia Newland

Mort/Wyrd Sisters/Reaper Man by Terry Pratchett
I can't think of many recent (as in recently-written) books that I've read that would classify as "Classic"...

Bridget Jones's Diary I think should be considered as a modern day classic.
I agree on the Harry Potter books too.

You mean you haven't heard any of the countless interviews she's done on the subject?
Sorry, what I mean by this, is that she has (allegedly) already explained what's going to happen in the coming novels, and we are told... well, I won't go any further.
She will get them done, she's under contract to, and besides, she's got the storylines planned out and such.
