Subject: Lakers and the refs vs. the Nets

Written By: Indy Gent on 06/09/02 at 01:18 a.m.

Was the officiating any better than it was in the Lakers-Kings series? It couldn't have been because the Lakers are up 2-0 in the Nets series. I can't wait for NBC to give up its ties with the NBA. And the sooner David Stern resigns, the better.

Well, I only watched the first half of the first game, saw the Lakers Clobbering the Nets (they were up by like 30 points).  So, I've lost all interest this year.  You think If money was on NBC's mind they would at leat drag it out to six games.  Or, maybe they want to sacrifice the Nets to prove it is not fixed, and money isn't the primary goal.  I dissagree with ralph nader on almost everything, but I think he is right about this.

A LOT of my interest in Pro basketball disappeared in the summer of 1976...along with the American Basketball Association :'( Now after watching for YEARS, how Utah has gotten away with SO much and this year with the disgusting little spoiled brats from LA getting thier way...well, let's just say I'm happy playing basketball with my friends on Saturdays....even with a broken wrist ;)

Okay, so they never have won a championship...I take that as there being just a bit of justice in the world after all of the elbows and illegal picks that stockton/malone have been getting away with for Years I miss the ABA

I TRY and TRY to believe that the "Brown-ball league" is not corrupt...and then a NET player is SO "Fouled" with the game on the line and the Fakers prevail....again...can you say....$Money! >:( F*ck the nba

Gone but Not forgotten....when fouls were called....hanging on the rim was a technical foul....walking down the court with the ball on your hip was called "Carrying"....holding the ball for what they now say is an "Awesome Crossover" but was and should be called "Palming"....games that saw the final score as 125-120 rather than 79-72 AND no corruption....can you say Commisioner Stern or referees?  Yes, the gone but never forgotten great days of the American Basketball Association

Well, It looks like as long as Phil Jackson is coaching the Lakers the Lakers will win championship after championship. Sad but true. The Nets should have put the Lakers away when the Nets had a 5 point lead with 5 minutes to go and Shaq on the bench. I have been following the game since 91. I think there was more skill involved back in 1991 than there is now. I don't think I will be watching basketball anymore because the Lakers are going to win every year. How boring and predictable the NBA has become.

I dont see why they couldn't bring it back or have another league, There are a lot of metro areas without NBA teams, Including:

Cincinatti, OH
Pitsburg, Pa
San Diego, Ca
Kansas City. Ka
Winston-Salem, NC
Norfolk, VA
Raliegh, NC
Birmingham, AL
Nashville, TN

I'd love to see it but the Monopolistic Brown-ball league wouldn't stand for it. Wouldn't it be wonderful to go see real players that KNOW the rules and play by them, and take your kids and eat decent food...and pay less than $30 for tickets.  It's like that old bastard in Boston, Red Aurbach  once said about the ABA..."Let'em rot...IMO THAT is the attitude of the nba towards ANY new league trying to catch on. BTW, the ABA won the series in head to head competition with the nba in the years they played one another....and the nba teams played thier starters! I will continue to play Saturdays with my friends (We use a Red, White & Blue ball) for as long as I can play halfway decent, and remember the good days when basketball was actually fun to watch ;) Check out this link for a LOT of cool history:

Yeah I was sad to see you lose the team. Now what would make sense certainly won't happen:  the nba should re-name them the New OrleansJazz and seeing as how utah is the Beehive state, they could call them the Utah Hornets...I know, I know...it makes too much sense ;)

Hey Rock, want to wager on Red's death?  ;)
Just kidding, I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy (unless it was that snake in the sand Osama bin Laden.)

Certainly I don't wish death on anyone but when he does go I wish I could sneak an ABA basketball in his casket :)

Good for you, Rock! ;)
And could you also put the 3 Indiana Pacers ABA championship banners over his grave, too. Slick Leonard would get a "Boom Baby" out of that. ;)

Absolutely!  Especially since the old goat said Slick leonard had no talent as a coach....what a jerk...I say let the nba rot!  (Except for the former ABA teams of course) ;)
