Subject: Hey Jessica...
I'm asking you specifically, but I'd love input from others.
First of all, is Eminem's whole album good, or just that one SONG I CAN'T GET OUT OF MY HEAD?
Second, how painful is it for those of you under, say, twenty-four years of age to see geezers like myself trying painfully to move in a moderately rhythmic manner to such tunes? What about when we sing along? At what point should we just give up and keep our love of modern teen music in the closet? Basically what I want to know is, am I just fooling myself and those looks from the high school kids aren't really, "Hey, what a fly grown-up!" but rather, "Thank God she's not MY mom."

You crack me up, Langdon ;D! First, I've only heard that one song off his new album. Second, I don't care how old you are, if you enjoy the music and feel like singing and dancing to it, by all means go ahead. Your singing and dancing can't be any worse than mine :).

How old is the dude anyway? I was thinking late 20's or early 30's...and my sis who is 21 thinks it is cool when I know who she is talking about in modern music...but then again...she asked me today if Neil Young was dead...and then laughed when I knew who he was!!!! go figure!!! ::)

It's just too weird to think you'd listen to Eminem, not because of your age, god no, but because you've had such great track record in musical taste up to now :P (now, I'm just begging for a swift kick in the head!). What happened Ms. Langdon? What made you change? :'( If it's just temporary, it's cool. You do still like DeMode, right?

Oh I love the Depeche, never giving up Ultravox, NewOrder rules, I can't explain it. I just love this little angry blond boy and his music. I love his complete and utter disdain for anything self-important, I love his tongu-in-cheek view of himself, and, God help me, I LOVE his slick hooks.
>begins bouncing<
Oh this looks like a job for me
So everybody just follow me
We need a little controversy
'Cause it feels so empty without me.
Nyah nyah nyah nyah nyah...
edited, but I could have left it to illustrate how welcome a spell-check would be

LOL. I would never have guessed that you liked Eminem - you never cease to amaze :) ( as do many people on the board!). I can imagine your head just bobbing up and down while you wrote those lyrics!
The comedic aspect of his songs are too catchy for their own good - I even bought the last album. The toungue-in-cheek stuff are there to get to you, the public, and all of the celebs he mocks in them - that's his purpose, and he sure does it well! :)

But...does he write any music? Can he play any instruments? Can he dance or do anything (except talk fast)? I guess, it's the lady's choice. I'll just get the baking soda and mayonnaise sandwich instead :-/

He isn't the greatest star to ever appear - but it's 'what the kids like' - and I have to be careful what I say now, beacuse many may class me still as one ::). Anyway - I haven't listened to his last album for about a year now - mainly beacuse I've been going through this 80's musical reveloution this past year. Actually, only about 15% of the music I listen to now is new, the rest of it is old ( mainly 80's and early 90's, some 60's and 70's stuff thrown in there too).
Back to Eminem - He appeals to people beacuse of this 'bad-boy' image that he puts out, beacuse he swears and because he takes the p*ss out of 75% of music stars (especially the boy bands and 'pop princesses'). He also doesn't care what others think of him, he speaks his mind and no-one can really be sure of whether the lyrical content which is refelcted is really what he believes. Take the whole Elton John thing ofr example - did he seriously not know he was gay? Is he really homophobic? Who knows? Quite frankly, I don't much care anymore - his appeal has disappeared for me. He makes catchy songs - and that's all I'll give credit too for now :)
