Amen to that, Cat Lover.  It is sad that the child welfare dept can lose a child...they very thing they are supposed to be taking care of.  The poor girl...I pray she comes home safely soon.

You know, this made me so mad! How the heck could they lose a little child like that? Why didn't they keep track of her? That poor baby! I just hope to God that she's still alive and safe!

Has it been established that it was child welfare who "misplaced" the little girl? Last I heard there was some suspicion about her grandmother's possible involvement.

That's true, but if she was already being watched by child welfare, why didn't they ask the grandmother where she was? Why didn't they check on her more often? I don't know how the h*ll she could just disappear like that, especially when  child welfare was involved in her home life!

The way that I understand what happened was that the 'grandmother' wasn't really her grandmother and that she wasn't reported missing for quite a long time. There was a little girl's body found in Kansas City over a year ago and they just recently ruled out the possibility that the unidentified little girl was Rilya Wilson. No one ever filed a missing report on this little girl either. The police in Kansas City call her "Precious Doe"

Well, I wasn't excusing them. There is plenty of blame to go around; but I knew that there were some questions about the grandmother.

Yeah, I heard something about them thinking the grandmother might be involved. I just wish that they would find her.

Several children are reported missing every year. But for the Child Welfare Dept. to lose a child is inexcusable. Isn't any child safe anymore?!! :(

I think what makes me the maddest about this whole thing is that she has been missing for, what, almost a year?  Where were child welfare when they were supposedly making their monthly visits to the home?

They said this little girl acted out alot...gee, I wonder why? ::)

Even if the Grand Mother does have Rilya, Child Welfare is STILL responsible! She was in THEIR care at the time she disappeared! It is THEIR responsibility to be aware of her whereabouts!

if she was in their care then why did the gram have her? where was her mother? father? this is what happens when the family breaks down. it should never come to the gov't to take care of or be responsible for someone's children.

I tend to agree.  If grandma had some involvement, then I hope they can find that out and punish as necessary...BUT..the thing is,  CPS (or whoever it is down there) was supposed to be keeping track of the little girl.  They were not doing their job, which as I understand it, was monthly checks on the children in the home.  OBVIOUSLY they weren't doing it, (did I read that paperwork had been forged??), or it would not have gone unnoticed by that department for nearly a year.  They totally "dropped the ball" in the case, and if anything happened to that little girl, they hold a huge amount of ressponsibility in it.
But, I, like everyone else, hope that she shows up safe and sound somewhere.

And as a sidenote...that "precious doe" case--does anyone else find it terribly odd that no one has noticed her missing either??  I know that goldie mentioned her--who in the world would lose a little child like THAT and for over a year not locate her family??  We have a case up here that happened over a year ago, and she was one of the kids that were checked as a possible identity for her.  Turned out not to be this little Teekah here..but I can't even understand that a parent who'd lost a little girl (what--like 2-5?) be all over it, and be looking for any possible link!  You can't tell me that there is no way to check identities to match with the description of "Precious Doe".  I guess that whole aspect of that case just flabbergasts me as well..  :-[

The mother had lost custody because of drug problems.  Not sure about dad, but likely the same thing.  That's why grandma was given custody.  The state had responsibility to be checking on the care in grandma's house.  It's too bad, yes.  But, it was most certainly better than leaving the kids in the home of a drug addict. At least it should have been.. ::)

The dad is in prison. The authorities questioned him when they were trying to figure out if the Precious Doe was Rilya Wilson or not!

Thanks for clearing that up, Goldie!  I knew I had read about him somewhere, but I wasn't sure what the story was on him.  :)

You know, it really sucks that the world is safe for predators and murderers.  They are protected by laws.  But the children...they don't have a safe place anymore.  Does that suck or what?  Sorry folks, but this is a very important issue with ole A'isha

I am keeping that poor child in my prayers.  May God be with her.  He seems to be all she has.

God bless the children.

Love,
A'isha
