I love your taste in music, also.  Hair bands were all I listened to in the 80's.  My taste diversified as I grew older (never really grew up ;))  but hair bands still are my favorite.  No barf on my keyboard :D

The last few days (other than 80's on the radio) I've been listening to looped samples of No Doubt's "Hella Good."  I finally had time yesterday evening to put the mix together - even threw in samples of Jacko's "Billie Jean."

Next projects: "Burning Down The House" by Talking Heads and perhaps "Roxanne, Roxanne vs. The Real Roxanne" by UTFO & Roxanne Shante (although I was given a "clean" copy of 'Real Roxanne' with a bunch of *bleeps* - may have to find another copy.)

Oh yeah, and for fun probably Scandal's "Warrior" b/c I heard it on 12-Inch Saturday Night...

I have worked in the capacities of mobile and club DJ.  I also make custom aerobic mixtapes & CDs for clients, and have made edits for competitions such as bodybuilding & cheerleading/dance routines.  I have not gotten into radio.  I guess you could say I started making remixes when I was 13 via cassette (granted they weren't that great).  When I got two turntables & a mixer in '87 I was creating remixes "on the fly" with two copies of the same record.  I still do that now.  

Recently I've taken it up one level - I bought a BOSS SP-303 Sampler which has several sample banks and features to alter the sound of the sample.  I've burned several remixes (mainly 80's tracks) to CD with a component CD burner, not a CD-R/RW drive.  My next step is to get them online.  The possibilities for remixes are virtually limitless.

I think it's great you are considering being a DJ when you get older.   From mobile & club experience I've learned that programming is key; knowing what songs will get the crowd moving (and turning the dancefloor at clubs).   My advice is to start early, and research all you can.  Also, save your money for equipment. And practice, practice, PRACTICE.  :)

Thank you very very very very much...I have been looking into free online  DJ-ing/mixing tools , since I'm damn-near broke. I'm obsessed with music (I even make up my own Top 20 countdowns), so I definitely know what's hot and what's not in music...now, I just have to earn some money...that won't be as hard in 3 years, when I can legally get a job. :)
