Subject: Satellite Radio

I would like your opinions on Satellite Radio. Sony came up with the first satellite radio system you can play in your car or at home. But like Satellite Television, there is no access to local stations.  The good thing about it is you can choose from several genres of music, news, sports, and entertainment. If you can afford the $700+ system (attachments and service excluded), it might just be like Heaven. Would you dish out the dough for something like this? ??? :-/

No way. I'll just wait until it becomes obsolete and costs about $50. ;D

The car receivers run about $300 one of my relatives just bought one.  I can understand If your a truck Driver, but how often does a normal person take road trips?  Twice a year maybe? VH1 and MTV radio are probaly like thier TV counterparts (pure crap).  How hard is it change the radio when FM Fades out?  as for Am, you can drive all the way from florida to New York Listening to the same stations.  I don't think its a good value. If I needed a New car sterio I would probaly get one with the feature, But I wouldn't subscribe.

What would be the point of getting one with the feature if you wouldn't subscribe to the service?  Isn't that a little like buying a bowling ball and never going to a bowling alley?

Well my last car sterio was $260  without XM so whats 40 more dollars.  I could subscribe before a big road trip and unsubcribe afterward. Also, last but not least bragging rights.

mmmmmm, bowling... ahhhhh *drools*

Umm, sorry, it would normally be my league night for bowling but leagues ended last week so I'm going through withdrawl.  As for the satellite radio... I'll just stick to my tapes and cds.

I wouldn't mind investing in satellite radio if I knew what was really on there.  I think the radio scene in Charleston sucks myself.  Of course there's current hit radio, country, oldies (1950's-1970's variety), and adult contemporary, but there are no alternative/modern rock stations nor are there any 1980's music stations.  (Check out my quote at the bottom.  94.5 used to play "jammin' oldies" but recently went to Mix 94.5.  The website 100000watts.com said that this station was a primarily-1980's station but if you like 1980's music you will be disappointed as it also plays music from the 1970's, the 1990's, and today.  They do play a lot of 1980's music but is not exclusively all-1980's.)  I used to listen to netradio.com, but they've bitten the dust…

One of my bowling leagues ended last week, but the other still has about 9 - 10 weeks to go.  And a new one to replace the last one started this week.  The friday one is way cool though, as at the end of it I get an AMF Hook Monster ball.  Mean little sucker that one is....

Ooops, I think I hijacked the thread...  AND IF YOU WANT IT BACK, YOU WILL MEET MY DEMANDS!  MWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
