Subject: So Cold.....
Ok, it's really, really cold right now. California is having a freak storm so there is snow all over the mountains that surround the Salinas Valley, it was hailing earlier, and at 12 this afternoon the temperature was a nice, warm 39 degrees. We hardly ever get this kind of weather, so it's pretty neat to look up at the mountains and see all that snow. Now they're saying it might be colder tonight and that we might actually get snow in my town. I know most of you live where it snows a lot, but this is a rarity for us, so I just have to tell everyone about it ;D. By the way, it is now 33 degrees and the temperature is falling so I'm going to go get in my warm bed.

Here we have had gale force winds and rain rain rain !
Subject: Re: So Cold.....
Talk about from one extreme to the other. Yesterday it was heavily raining and tonnes of wind ( i broke my unbrella beacuse a sudden gust of wind came while it was raining on my way to college! :( ). Today it is quite mild and sunny. Can't believe how different the weather is. I hate English weather. Roll on Summer! :)

I'd say that was New England weather, only it doesn't usually take a whole day to change ;D

Like Chucky said, here in Boston, it's unusually warm for winter, although most years we do have a phenomenon called the "January thaw".
I used to live near several of the colleges, and the favorite game of the permanent residents is "guess where the student lives".
During the "January thaw", when temperatures get into the 50's and 60's (that's the Farrenheit scale for our overseas friends) we watch how people are dressed. Light sweaters and jackets are locals.
T-Shirts, shorts, and the occasional swimsuit is usually someone who comes from farther north, and this is close to normal summer weather for them.
Someone who is still bundled in a parka, hat, scarf, mittens, boots and is shivering most likely comes from southern Florida, or a tropical country. ;D ;D

yup.. I've been telling my friends who grew up in warmer climates (like Phoenix or New Orleans) that this is normal, although this thaw seems a little longer than most.. maybe that's because we lucked out and it happened over the weekend
the great thing about New England weather, is that the only time something surprises you, is when it does what you thought it might... we expect the unexpected

I remember one time I was visiting a friend in Utah with my best friend and we went for a walk.It was a beautiful very hot day when suddenly out of nowhere comes this torrential downpour with nowhere to shelter,I ended up laughing it was so mad.We were completely drenched .When we got to the nearest houses it was hot and sunny there with not a spot of water to be seen.People at the bus stop and on the bus looked at us like we'd escaped from somewhere as we were soaked to the skin, bizarre weather.

I live in Utah, and that is the norm. I am in Salt Lake, and yesterday we were supposed to have this huge storm. (good for the Olympics, but I say bring on summer). It snowed 3 feet in Park City just 1/2 hour away, 10 minutes to the north and south there was just snow everywhere. Salt Lake got maybe an inch if lucky. Gotta love it. ;D

I'm in Washington, and we're also having a rare stormfront right now. It's been snowing for a couple of days. :( For being in NW Washington, with all the mountains we have, our town seldom gets snow like this. Funny how as a kid I was always so excited when the snow started to fall, and now I'll just be excited when it melts away!! They're saying it should start turning to rain tomorrow--here's hopin' !! ;)

Now, all you have to do is find the guy who gives out the nickels when you hear it. :D :D

actually, I've always heard that phrase about Texas. down here in the Lone Star Sate, it was in the 40's-50's last week....today is is a muggy 78.....we are supposed to have storms tonight with temps in the 40's or 50's again tomorrow (these abrupt changes are hell on my allergies)....I much more prefer the cold weather (of course, with temperatures reaching well over 100 degrees and humid in the summer, winter is a welcome season)

Let me see... it's been in the 70s all week, with a chance of some rain tonight and tomorrow. I seem to remember a week or two of cold weather recently, but I'm afraid our winter has just about passed... ;D

Me too, we have always said if you don't like the weather in Texas stick around a minute it'll change...and that is so true,it will be 80 degrees and then an hour later a cold front will have moved in and the temps will drop like 40 degrees and then the next day 80 degrees again.or the temp when you go to bed will be like 60 and when you wake up it will in the 30's.
Subject: Re: So Cold.....
Well, here in West Virginia we had 70's and 80's on Wednesday and Thursday and then it turned cold and blustery on Friday.
