I for one am sorry I ever argued with Sharona.  Had I known she was 13 and not from this country to begin with, I would have completely ignored her comments.

I agree 100% with you Gis as the old saying goes "if you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen"...I personally did not get along with her which I regret, I am an adult and should have acted like one and not have argued with her but we all can be immature at times...She had well stated points and could make one hell of an arguement but was too defensive when someone didn't agree with her(which so was I, I'll admit it)...I'm sorry that she felt that she had to go

I agree with both of you, kjayangel and Gis.  Sharona was right to have opinions, everyone does.  But arguing with anyone who disagreed with her, and making "points" that led one to believe that they couldn't be right, as only she was right--well, unfortunately, to me, any good points she made were somewhat destroyed with that attitude. I still remember her at the other board as saying that there were musicians, known to us, that couldn't have been any good simply because she hadn't heard of them..that was such a childish and misinformed attitude..it really stuck with me when I thought of her messages.  An adult has opinions, but realizes that so does everybody else, and you need to respect their thoughts, even if they differ from your own.  The only reason I never did argue with her isn't because I didn't disagree with her--I did--but I didn't want to get into a p*ssing match with a kid who would likely never SEE another point of view anyway..she was too convinced that she knew everything.  I understand part of that is being 13-14 years old..god knows I'm dreading my kids hitting that age....but I would hope that I can teach them to have opinions, and to stand up for them, but not to be disrespectful to anyone, especially an adult that has a whole lot more experience in life than they do.  Sharona couldn't do that, not that I ever saw.  Hopefully as she grows she can keep that fire, but lose the know-it-all attitude and disrespectful way of speaking to people that disagree with her--she'll hopefully learn that she'll get a lot further in life that way.
Sorry to see her go?  Not really.  She seemed like she opened posts solely to cause an argument.  I won't miss that, it made the board less fun, I think--but I hope she can find somewhere that she can be heard and find other kids that can argue with her on that same level.  She went out knowing that people were going to respond, and I don't doubt that she will be reading the posts, even if she doesn't answer them ( ::))  Why else would she have made such a big announcement about it??

I was wondering the same thing....

I agree that every has the right to an opinion and everyone has a right to be heard. With maturity comes the ability to recognize when to just stay quiet or learn how to say things in a tactful manner, no matter how you feel about it. I think, in time, she will realize that.

If Sharona had been arguing with her peers, I'm sure she would have done quite well. I'm sure most of us can remember trying to argue a point with an adult and how frustrating it was. I'm afraid she never quite learned when to speak and when not to, and when to accept that she may have been wrong, after all.
