Subject: Amityville Horror

George Lutz, who's stay with his family in the infamous house, inspired books, the original movie and it's remake, not to mention the various bad sequels, passed away at the age of 59.
I'm sure it has been covered somewhere on this site, in perhaps another thread, but since the thread is about haunted places, I thought I would post in here.

I thought that the original was chessy and not that scary, the remake was ok.

I can recall that just after the original film was released, the story was proved false, the family made it all up.

I watched the re-make a bit ago.. I was impressed, sort of.
My mom used to be in Real Estate, she said she learned that after that movie, the market for houses with that window style almost completely died.. like, nationwide, less then a thousand were sold the year after that movie or something.
