Subject: Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)

For those of you who do not know what CSAs are, they are farms that offer "shares" of their produce. Each farm is different how it works. Some you pay a fee at the beginning of the season, others you pay by the week. Most of them, you get produce weekly.

As for us, we have been a part of a CSA for about 5 years now (maybe longer-lost count). We pay at the beginning of the season. While it seems expensive, (this year we paid $565), we get produce once a week from mid May through mid Oct-and it is ALL organic. If we were to buy that in the store, it would cost us much more. We get to chose the stuff we like. I have heard that some CSAs just give you what they have and you don't have a choice.

For us, it is a no-brainer. We support our local farmer, and he grows delicious veggies for us. Not to mention that a lot of the Big Ag use chemicals, & genetic engineered crap that they pass off as produce.

Anyone else belong to a CSA? Want to belong to one? etc. etc.

I guess no one belongs to a CSA. You don't know what you are missing.

Not much to add.  It is a great bargain.
