Subject: The "Ghost Pepper"
Written By: loki 13 on 09/07/14 at 8:03 pm
I grew Bhut Jolokia peppers in my garden this year just to try them. I have seen videos where people
have eaten whole peppers and I have heard stories of people being hospitalized after eating said peppers
but I was not to be deterred. I have shirts and badges from places in the area for eating their so called
hot wings and ribs so I figured I was up for the challenge.
Anyway, the Ghost Pepper. As I am older I played it cautious, I cut up a pepper and put a small slice on
my cheese steak. As I chomped on the steak it was like I was searching for a prize, when will I get the
pepper? Most of the steak was gone and I thought this was nothing, a little tinge of heat but I get that
from a cherry pepper. Disappointment started to set in, then another bite.......Then HOLY CRAP THIS IS
FRIGGEN" HOT. No more disappointment, my God it was hot. Then I did what any other glutton for punishment
would do, I took another bite.
It was by far the hottest pepper I have eaten and that was just a slice. I couldn't imagine eating a whole pepper
in one shot. Anyone else have the pleasure, or stupidity, of eating one of these peppers.

I have never tried it, but back when I lived in Utah in the early 2010s several kids would have "Ghost Pepper Challenges", in which they would eat a few ghost peppers and see who could last the longest. A lot of people threw up, and I hear when it goes away, it comes back 10 times harder! A lot of times they would drink milk and eat swedish fish along with the pepper!
