Subject: Greek Yogurt

Written By: Dagwood on 01/26/14 at 9:59 pm

Most people I know love it, or at least say they do.  I know it is supposed to be healthier for you, but I just find it disgusting.  Am I the only one who hates Greek Yogurt?

I chose other because indifferent wasn't an option  ;)

I've had it....it was almost a year ago. I bought a few brands and found I liked the chioboni (or whatever) but not the others.

I like pomegranate And the  dark cherry but is guess I didn't like it enough to keep buying it l.

Not sure why I haven't..... It wasn't really a conscious choice. I just really like the pomegranate yogurt from trader joes so I buy that most of the time.

Chobani is ok, I don't find it great. Chobani doesn't give you enough fruit flavor towards the end when you're mixing it.

You've got your cheese thing, I've got the yogurt thing.  I just cannot get myself to eat it.

Well, in fact, I am but that's not the reason I don't like yogurt.

I love yogurt only when it's fresh and when the yogurt has a lot of fruit on the bottom like Dannon used to have.

I'm not a huge fan of yogurt so I have never tried it.

I was looking in the refrigerator this morning and I saw a Chobani coconut-flavored yogurt, that yogurt expired a month ago and I wasn't too sure if it was still good so I tasted it and it was still good.

I always have to taste test some things to check if it's still edible or not.

Howard, with dairy that might not be a good idea.  If it expired a month ago, you might just want to toss it.  You don't want to get sick.

If you haven't had any problems yet, you should be fine.  Just don't do it again.

And just yesterday, I found a Chobani yogurt from a few weeks ago and boy when I smelt it, it smelt putrid and fermented, glad I threw it out instead of tasting it or I would've been in the bathroom for a while. 8-P

With dairy I would maybe try it one or two days after the expiry date if the lid hadn't swollen.  Otherwise it gets binned unopened

shouldn't you smell it first?

There's a reason the date is on there, Howard.  It's really the best gauge of whether something is safe to eat.  As Karen said, maybe one or two days but anything after that would be pushing it.

I will eat Greek yogurt with the mixed fruit in it. I don't like plain Greek yogurt, it doesn't taste very good.

I like it, but then again I like regular yogurt too.

The only real differences I can tell between the two types are that greek yogurt seems to feel a little drier(for a lack of a better word) and tastes just a little less sweet(well, the fruit on the bottom and flavored ones anyway). But that mainly comes with the higher Protein count.

because of this stupid thread (thanks dag  :P ) I decided to buy a bunch of greek yogurt.

I had yoplait (it was pretty good) even the yoplait light greek yogurt didn't have a weird aftertaste....

I HATE the activa greek yogurt. I like Activa regular yogurt but the greek yogurt is just weird. I've tried both the light and the regular.

I have more brands to try at home...this is just my initial report.

It's denser than yogurt but lighter than mousse.
The physical texture/ properties are identical to yogurt

Greek yogurt is okay, but I'll need plenty of fruit and I'm gonna have to use a lot of sugar to make it taste the way I want it to.

I do, actually. I like to have it with a breakfast pastry, such as a danish or coffee cake, but that's just occasionally. Like, very occasionally.
