I eat plain bagels plain.... uncut and untoasted... I want my plain bagel plain and whole in the bag.
I also eat them from the bottom up. basically I flip the bagel eat all the bottom crust then I eat the top and breading part.
sometimes I have a cinnamon raisin bagel.....same rules listed above apply.

I chose cream cheese. But I like other stuff on a bagel too.
Dunkin' Donuts makes a good bacon egg and cheese bagel. Well, no they don't. But I'll buy one anyway if I'm really hungry.

Bagels...
Me: I'd like an omelet, plain, and a chicken salad sandwich bagel, no mayonnaise, no butter, no lettuce. And a cup of coffee.
Waitress: A #2, chicken salad sandwich bagel, Hold the butter, the lettuce, the mayonnaise, and a cup of coffee. Anything else?
Me: Yeah, now all you have to do is hold the chicken, bring me the bagel, give me a check for the chicken salad sandwich bagel, and you haven't broken any rules.
Waitress: You want me to hold the chicken, huh?
Me: I want you to hold it between your knees.

I vote "none"... I usually prefer to eat them plain. However, once in a while I will spread a little bit of pumpkin creamcheese.

Cream cheese or peanut butter and/or jelly.
I LOVE Bruegger's Bagels.
http://www.brueggers.com/
Haven't had a bagel from them in a LONG time.
They used to make a maple walnut cream cream that was to DIE for! But, I don't see it on their menu now-but they do have a honey walnut.

Anyone remember a small place called Einstein's bagels? They sold different varieties of tasty bagels with your favorite toppings on them.

IIRC there are still Einstein Brothers bagel shops in Portland and Seattle. Noah's Bagels is also a good place on the West Coast for bagels, and in my city, there is a place called Humble Bagel that has attained locally legendary status, along with an East Coast-style kosher deli and Jewish/Eastern European bakery called Barry's that is very good & makes its own bagels, bialys and challah along with specialty Polish & Russian pastries.
Back on topic I like strawberry Philadelphia cream cheese spread, blackberry jam, peach preserves or Adams crunchy peanut butter on a plain or raisin bagel, or Philadelphia garden vegetable cream cheese spread on an onion, poppyseed or "everything" bagel. I ate a lot of bagels as a kid since they were a ubiquitous snack & breakfast food here in the 90s and 00s, slightly more so than today it seems like. I have a great memory of sharing a moment listening to Fleetwood Mac, drinking decaffeinated low-quality coffee and small-talking with my middle/high school crush and a friend who is like a brother to me, in the Center Point School "lounge" room, that (slightly on topic) also involved 2 or 3 day-old Humble bagels for each of us.

I like the twisty bagels that they sell at the Harbord Street Bakery in Toronto. They're good just toasted with butter on them. :)
