Written By: gumbypiz on 06/12/12 at 10:44 pm

Yeah, you read that right a sundae with bacon. :o

from their press release:
This limited-time soft serve dessert took Nashville, TN by storm earlier this year and is now available nationwide to satisfy every sweet tooth. The sweet and savory dessert features the rich and creamy vanilla BK® soft serve, drizzled with chocolate fudge, caramel and topped with bacon crumbles, complete with a thick-cut, hardwood smoked bacon garnish. (Suggested retail price starts at $2.49)

I don't know, people, I don't know what to say about this...so its come to this, pork crumbles on ice cream, thats just dang weird . That is what America is craving, huh?
And it goes on sale June 14, thats two days from now if you can't wait to try it.

Read it here.

Jack in the box has had the Bacon Shake for a few months now so this seems like a natural evolution!  :D

I tried Jack's. Remarkably it tasted like bacon!  :o. It was kind of smoky and sweet. Biggest mistake I made was stopping to post about it on FB. In that time the consistency changed or my taste buds reconfigured. In two minutes it went from kinda awesome to gag me horrible.  I think of I had fully committed and chugged the thing I'd've had another at a later date

Yes I think he is now obligated to try it. And since there's a BK in the Pathmark parking lot I expect him to try it soon.

Howard's the kind of guy that will take one for the team.  ;)

Then again I'm kind of intrigued myself now and I might be willing to be the guinea pig if need be.

It's funny you mention that, because I was going to say that although I'm rather intrigued by the BK Bacon Sundae, part of me is afraid to try it. Not so much because of how it might taste, but because the very concept of a bacon sundae is such a flagrant violation of so many religious dietary laws that I'm worried that eating one might be like thumbing your nose at God. And, being a lapsed Catholic, if I ate one on a Friday during Lent then that might just be the thing that pushes it too far and causes a bolt of lightning to come down from the sky and strike me right in the groin.  :o :o :o

Did somebody say bacon ice cream?  Because I thought I heard someone say bacon ice cream.  By the time it hits your stomach, it's bacon and eggs with a glass of milk, which is about as wholesome a breakfast as you can get!

BTW if anyone was wondering the BJ, uh, BK Bacon Sundae is packed with good nutrition.
It has:
510 calories
18 grams of fat
61 grams of sugar

And thats for 8 ounces. Yummy.  Starting at only $2.59, cheap way to test the boundaries of taste or sanity.
Hey, bacon is good with everything, right?  ::)

Two slices of bread (Obvious part  :D )
Pieces of dark chocolate, whatever amount you want that won't melt onto the skillet.
Ground Cayenne Pepper (whatever amount you're accustomed to, you could use cinnamon instead if you hate hot pepper)

You grill it like you would a grilled cheese sandwich.

I didn't expect to see cayenne involved, but I'm down with that.  It's long been established that a dash of chipotle or cayenne can make chocolate 20% coolhotter.

I made some bacon (in the microwave since I didn't really want to dodge bacon grease splatters) today in honor of this thread.  No chocolate or ice cream was involved in my sandwich though.  It was a BLACMW (bacon, lettuce, American cheese, miracle whip) sandwich.  I had grape tomatos, but did not feel like slicing them to put on the sandwich.

It gave me the energy to press on cleaning and organizing my house (in time for my stepdaughter's visit on Wednesday.)
I was like a machine today.  Got alot done.  Bacon power!

I'm a bit of a capsaicin junkie, in case you couldn't tell. I usually don't go a week without eating anything spicy hot. Whether it be Andy Capp's Hot Fries(which are nothing powerful to me) or putting alot of ground cayenne in soup or using Dave's gourmet insanity sauce(which is around 180,000 scovilles, I could tell you a funny story about when I first used it) and such on my food.

Of course, you can exclude cayenne or any spice period if you just want the dark chocolate flavor without the kick in the grilled sandwich itself.

Just make sure the nurse knows to apply it orally!

I'm back home now.

To be honest it wasn't very good, but not because it had bacon in it, rather because it was a Burger King sundae, which meant it had all the inherent sh!ttiness that comes with pretty much anything that comes from Burger King. Really I couldn't taste the bacon over the fudge, and once I got past the layer of bacon pieces that were sprinkled on top of it it was just a fudge sundae. My verdict is that, as was executed by Burger King, the Bacon Sundae is nothing more than a cheap marketing ploy to try and lure people back into their restaurants out of curiosity, and it worked on me. Maybe I might stop back into Booger King again in another couple years when they come up with their next silly gimmick.

However, I also had the feeling that a bacon sundae could actually be quite good if executed properly by someone that actually knows a thing or two about making ice cream. I doubt that this will ever happen, but I think that if Dairy Queen was ever to create a Blizzard or parfait-type concoction with chunks of bacon in it (and perhaps with the bacon chunks being just a tad smaller than those used on the BK Bacon Sundae) it might possibly be REALLY good.

Hmm.

I think that if you fried up some really crispy bacon and an immersion blender, or a slap-chop, or even just crumbled the stuff in your bare hands, and then you went to Dairy Queen and got a nice (plain, no toppings) hunk o' soft-serve...

Damn.  The nearest DQ is about 20 miles away from here, but... yeah.  Yeah, I think you're onto something, dude.

As far as Booger King goes I like their chicken sandwiches and their onion rings all right, but not enough for me to go out of my way for.
