Sugary, crunchy like honeycomb?
No, sugary and crunchy like granulated.
If you've never had a Peep, but you do have access to marshmallows...
(Marshmallows in the States are foamy/sticky areated mixtures of corn syrup and glycerine, lightly dusted in corn starch to prevent them from sticking together. They're soft and fluffly, and wholly unlike the hard and chalk-like "marshmallows" found in some breakfast cereals.)
...Anyways, if Marshmallows are "fluffy sweet cylindrical things dusted with powder so they don't stick together and can therefore be sold in plastic bags", you can reproduce the taste of a Peep by tearing a marshmallow in half, dipping the freshly-exposed bit of the mallow in a bowl of sugar, and eating it. Crunch, crunch!
The only real difference is that Peeps used colored sugar, and a couple of daubs of brown carnauba wax for the facial features. Doesn't make any difference to the taste, though. Just plain yummy, but keep your dentist on speed-dial.

I like Peeps. My mom got me into them (just like she got me into some other sweet confections) and I could usually outdo her on eating them, but now I usually can eat a few and feel satisfied. I was at a kitchen store yesterday (Sur la Table) and ran across a book on baking with Peeps. I saw the cutest thing ever in it: A Peeps wedding cake, with two chicks on top, one with a bow tie. I thought, Now that's what I want as my wedding cake topper! :)

My father in law likes them, and extremely stale ones at that. The ones they had out at Easter this year were from last year. I passed.
My cat likes stalking them. He dug one of them out of the candy basket and tried to kill it by shaking it and biting it around the neck. It made me proud of him. Of course, cleaning up all the peep parts stuck to his fur and face was not fun...

We often take a friend of my husband (and friend's mom) to the grocery store (once a week). The week after Easter we got home with our groceries (why make two trips, we're at the store anyway, just shop when they do.) Unpacked our bag and there was a box of pink peeps. Blech. I despise them. I called the friend to see if maybe their peeps got into our grocery bag by accident. Nope, they had peeps too (not purchased.) Apparently the store put them in our sack while bagging up the rest of the stuff. I guess that was nice and a good way to recycle, if I happened to like them... but I don't. I'm thinking of passing them along sorta like fruitcake. lol

Put them on an ant-proof shelf in your kitchen. When and if the board ever shows up in Vegas, they will be in demand. The longer it takes, the better they'll taste, even if I have to dunk 'em in coffee in order to prevent myself from breaking a tooth.

They taste as if you were eating sugar and food coloring. That's it.

You ever eaten a marshmallow?
OK, eat half a marshmallow. Then take the gooey-sticky-part that's left. Dunk it in granulated sugar so that the sugar sticks to the freshly-bitten marshmallow. That second half is what Peeps taste like. They're just marshmallow encrusted with colored granulated sugar. No chocolate. No flavor. Just awesome.

Dr. Candystein, mad confectioner, tried to infuse marshmallow with life force. Peeps are the aborted result of the failed experiment.

Peeps are best when stale. Buy them, put them in a cabinet for a few weeks then they are perfect.

Aren't they still chewy?

If we all liked the same things life would be pretty boring.

A little chewy and a lot less gooey.

I voted no, never liked them even as a child.
The only way I can eat them, I've found, was in the form of Smores.

Stale peeps, fresh peeps, I'm not fussy, but if you must have your peeps in s'mores form, let 'em fight to the death first:
BEHOLD, Peep Jousting!
0Z3ONvyiscE
- YouTube search for "Peep Jousting" yields "About 13,300 results"
- YouTube search for "Peep Jousting 2012" yields "About 6,760 results"
So put each combatant on a graham cracker and a square of chocolate, and have at it! Winner gets eaten first!

nothing will happen to the peeps, they're only made of marshmallow so nothing will happen to them when you put them into the microwave.

Tell you what. Put a peep in a microwave for 30 seconds. But unless there's a big plate beneath it, it's gonna be your microwave, and you're gonna have to clean it up. They don't explode, but they do melt, inflate to gargantuan proportions, and then deflate to a puddle of gooey ooze. If that's your definition of "nothing", you're welcome to it. But placed atop a graham cracker and a slab of chocolate, that's my definition of "awesome".

I'd throw a scoop of coffee Haagen-Dazs on top of it straight out the microwave, and then dig in!

Well...nothing will happen to the peeps if you stick them in the microwave and don't turn the microwave on... Otherwise...
I'm tempted to buy some yucky peeps just to commit marshmallocide in the microwave. Wheeeeeeeee

I like Peeps. The first time I ate one, I must have been 2 or 3 and some came in a big Easter basket my mother had put together for me. She pulled the cellophane off and I ate them all. ;D
They were little pink ones cause Mom was pink crazy and wanted me to have pink everything. LOL
