Subject: Weird food combinations

So whenever I eat Chef Boyardee (or similar) Pasta, I sprinkle Cheetos or Popcorn on top.  Soooo good :)
I also dip my peanut butter sandwich in my pasta

What unusual food combinations do you do?

many years ago I was having a severe case of the munchies (if ya know what I mean  ::) )  and had a piece of fried chicken and decided to slather some peanut butter on it and it tasted hecka good, but at the moment anything probably would have, but I guess it's not that unusual as Malaysian & Thai cuisine use peanut sauces to dip grilled chicken in. I was just ahead of my time.  8)

Melted cheese on Chef Boyardee ravoli and beefaroni.
Melted peanut butter over ice cream
My daughter dips pizza rolls into ranch dressing

When I was a kid I ate:
cream cheese & banana sandwiches,
liver sausage & sweet pickle sandwiches,
My brother liked cheese & mustard sandwiches.
Bananas sliced up in a bowl with milk & sugar

Don't know if these are considered weird but I like them  :)

For some reason, that sounds like an interesting sandwich. I have tuna so I may go out and buy some peanut butter and experiment. :)

What seems to work for me is chips (french fries) dipped in custard for some reason.

As a kid I would eat spagettios with bits of baloney and velvetta.
I've been known to dip bits of pizza in ranch or buttermilk salad dressing.
Warm veggies (such as green beans) with a small amount of sour cream mixed in.
Mash potatoes with salad dressing mixed in.

I also like to pour black pepper on dill pickles. THAT is so good.

The onion rings thing is fairly common for some specialty burgers here.

I do want to try a Wisconsin burger...they put butter on their hamburgers...sounds pretty good.  I think my sister said there was a place here that does that...

Hmmmm..............about 300 Big Macs or one grossly overpriced pie. Not much of a choice in my book. Anybody who would actually order this should be forced to donate money to a worthy cause.

I think some of my weird food combos would be melted butter on cantaloupe, mayonnaise on my grilled cheese (my dad taught my mom this trick, and I pretty much grew up on them!), vinager on my white rice (for some reason this doesn't seem weird but when I tell people I like it that way, they give me funny looks.) That's all I can think of at the moment. I also used to like putting butter in my BBQ sauce, but probably should avoid that since my cholesterol needs to stay down  :(

That's not strange to me, and it shouldn't be to other people if they've eaten Japanese food.  They use rice vinegar in sushi. :)

Peanut butter and pickle sandwiches are delicious, but you have to use dill pickles.  Seriously, try them.  It's a fabulous combination.

I also like peanut butter on an onion bagel.

And I put ranch dressing on everything.  Bread, pizza, fries, sandwiches, baked potatoes - you name it.

I was at this joint called Big Daddy's in Fayetteville, Arkansas several years back, and they had these pulled pork barbecue nachos. Which may seem a little weird, but they were easily the best nachos I'd ever had. My friends and I must have ordered at least 4 or 5 plates of them. Man, were they good!  :D

I can't wait to get out of my apartment and into a house or duplex, for no other reason that I can't grill out or barbecue here. I really want to start working on, and perfect, a recipe for barbecue lasagna.

Not sure, I think you smoke some brisket or pork shoulder first, and then bake it into the lasagna, alnong with perhaps some barbecue sauce. I saw a few recipes for it online and was rather intrigued.

If it was done right, I believe it would be out of this world.

What, curried eggs or the other stuff? They sell pickled eggs in some places here too. Other combos I don't like are:
Fish with mint, orange or garlic, or canned in tomato sauce
Coffee with milk
Cous-cous based desserts
Milk puddings (rice, sago, tapioca etc)
Garlic fudge or ice-cream (yes, I have tried both, at an annual Garlic Fayre they hold here in the UK)

Further weirdo combos I do like are:

Prawns flambeed in JD

No, I mean in drinking a miniature bottle of Amaretto liqueur while munching on a bag of Doritos.  Probably not so good, one time I ate eight donuts chase by five gin & tonics and a good time was had by all, I can tell you!

"Planes, Trains and Automobiles" was a definite high mark for both Steve Martin and John Candy.  Definitely one to see.  However, there is no eating of donuts and guzzling of gin!"

It is big in Canada and they sell it along the Maine coast where a lot of Canadians vacation.  I can't bring my self to look at it, let alone try it.  It is like a massive case of indigestion on a plate

I love avocado (or guacamole for that matter) on turkey sandwiches.  The only way to find out is to try it, I think it sounds delicious.  I would go with lettuce, tomato, and onion perhaps some mayo and guacomole - NO Ketchup, or mustard....

OH man... I had that stuff in scrambled eggs before, in Minnesota (go figure) - and they were awesome.  Forgot about it till now (I looked at the link, and it all came flooding back).  When I saw the word, I thought it was some japanese food or something... I do not know if they "washed it off" or if the amount of lager I consumed before eating this dish had anything to do with it (I do not remember it being gross)  :-\\

Not really weird, but people seem to think it is.  Scrambled eggs, with sliced hotdogs cooked in them; and then ketchup with them.  It has been a staple in my life, and it is still popular in my family (the girls made them for dad for father's day all by themselves).  I actually like them with Open Bit Original BBQ sauce (hate it as a BBQ sauce, but love it as a dipping sauce for tater tots, french fries, nuggets...)

Oh I love runny eggs, but you have to prepare them carefully.  See, I learned this the hard way.  I used to stop at Jake's (good food, reasonable price, don't look in dimly lit corners) in Northampton on my way to work.  It got to about three times a week for about eight months.  Always th same thing, two eggs over easy, whole wheat toast, and bacon (or ham).  One morning I was about an hour into my shift when my gut began making a noise like an idling tractor trailer and I had to make haste!  No polite way to say it right:  I was on the hopper for about 45 minutes!

I soo want to tell you salmonella, which is what you can get from undercooked eggs.  Takes 72 hours in your system before onset of symptoms, and you will be in the bathroom atleast 3 days - both ralfing and with mucusy runs...  So you might as well go back to eating your eggs the way you want them.  Because what you had, did not come from the eggs...

It's like a grilled Cheese sandwich, except you substitute dark chocolate and add ground cayenne pepper to it(not a lot, just enough to give it a subtle spicy kick). Of course, cayenne doesn't have to be added if you don't like ground pepper in your chocolate or if you simply want a grilled chocolate sandwich.

A dessert inspired by... you know where, the "Chimicherrychanga" is a Chimichanga (deep-fried burrito) made with cherry pie filling.  (I haven't tried the variation with cream cheese, but it also looks delicious.  Tomorrow night!)

Clicky to embiggen recipe with pictures:

http://chzbronies.files.wordpress.com/2012/01/my-little-pony-friendship-is-magic-brony-chimicherrychanga.png

Inspired by the efforts of the Internet's most raving lunaticcreative fanbase, I tried this tonight, sauteed in a splash of butter like a grilled-cheese sandiwch.  (I also tossed a couple of shots of brandy into the mix.)

The sauteeing isn't quite by the book compared to deep-frying, but it's easier, less messy, and far safer than attempting to deep fry under Super Bowl conditions.  It will be served this weekend during the second half as a dessert course when we're out of beer, pizza, and wings.  My fridge now has a nice bucket o' mix chilling out for the weekend; all I'll need to do on Sunday is ladle it out - cream cheese optional - onto the tortillas, wrap, and fry during halftime.

What did Ally Sheedy"s character in The Breakfast Club put in her sandwich? Was it cheetoes or caramel corn? It made the sandwich crunchy. She also poured something white out of a paper tube; maybe salt or sugar.

I take a small container of snack pack pudding and put it in a glass dish and microwave for 25 seconds. Then pour it over ice cream.

So Stilton is out of the question?

" A northern Scandinavian tradition, kaffeost is a drink/meal in which cubes of cheese are released into a cup of coffee. They absorb it 'like rich, moist cheese sponges,' per Atlas Obscura, and ideally it's all served in a beautiful mug carved out of a birch burl (a knobby tree growth).

The cheese part of kaffeost is called leipäjuusto (or bread cheese) in Finland, and 'Finnish Squeaky Cheese' in the United States — although you can also just call it 'bread cheese.' It’s strictly cheese (there is no bread), but the idea is that it’s sturdy and soaks things up in a breadlike way. And while Scandinavian bread cheese is traditionally made from reindeer milk, I found a cow’s-milk variety from Wisconsin, at Murray’s Cheese."
