Subject: Steak and... ?

Tonight I had a t-bone and a zip-code stretching baked potato. What are your favorite "meat and other" combinations?

All the time as a kid I would order The steak and shrimp dinner. It came with a baked potato as well. I'd eat the whole thing and I still would. I can't find this combination anymore. Usually when I order shrimp these days I don't get any cocktail sauce.

Steak and Kidney Pudding, just like the way my mother made it. The meat first cooked, jusice and gravy added, placed in suet and then steamed.

I've gone off red meat. Not a big decision, just stopped, BUT, I do like sausage(hot or fennel) with mashed.

Steak! Finally, a subject dear to my gut heart.
Just yesterday I had a T-bone with BBq'd Apricot chicken, 2 sausages and some ribs (a the tiniest bit of salad just to balance it out). Strangely enough, no dinner after all of that!!

A steak isn't complete without a loaded baked potato, mushrooms, and a salad. Maybe some fresh french bread as well. :)

It's been a long time since I've had steak, but when I do I like it with a baked potato, mixed steamed veggies, and dinner rolls.

some A1 sauce and a knife and fork is all I need
but since the thread is Steak and ... let's have a baked potato with sour cream, butter, bacon bits and chives
I like steak and shrimp if the shrimp are crispy fried. mashed potatoes go well too and some good hearty bread & butter.
for breakfast, a small steak and 2 fried eggs over easy is wonderful.

I used to love my steaks BBQ'd or broiled - rarely fried. I would usually eat them with sauteed mushrooms in garlic (yum!), a baked potato with sour cream. I couldn't have my steak without A-1 sauce. Sounds cliche, but it was my favorite sauce with steak. A great combo! Also, some veggies on the side always made it a complete meal. I usually ate New Yorks, London Broils, and Filets.

Steak and kidney pie. The filling is cooking at the moment and I'm off to make the flakey pastry topping soon.

Steak with chips or jacket potato, peas, tomato and a large flat mushroom.
I also like beef, chicken, pork or lamb with roast potatoes and mixed vegetables for Sunday lunch.

Last weekend I was in Washington DC and ate at a French restaurant in Georgetown. I had steak and French fries. The fries were thin like McDonalds fries. I felt so funny, eating a nice classy steak with goofy McDonalds-style french fries.
I guess that is how they do it. LOL

We usually have some sort of potato and a vegetable or salad with steak. And the steaks I've had lately are so good they don't need to be doctored up with A1 sauce or anything. The way steak should be.
