Chicken Noodle Soup is my favourite. I like to crumble lots of crackers in it, until it turns into a paste. Then I eat it. Once I tried to spread it on bread to make a Chicken Paste Sandwich, and it tasted terrible

Any vegetarian-based soup (Sweet Tomatoes has a couple killer veggie soups; sweet tomato and red onion and vegetarian minestrone), clam chowder, tomato, and french onion. No soup with meats.

What is wedding soup?
My mom made the best minestrone in the world - hands down my favorite. I wish I had the recipe! She also made this soup with meat balls, spaghetti noodles, and broccoli cooked in beef broth. It doesn't sound very good, but it tastes amazing.

Vege or tomato soup are really the only soups I like. Can't stand chicken soup or beef soup. And the soup has to be made from scratch, none of this sludge in a can you get from the supermarket. :P

Water, mainly because I add spices like red pepper, garlic powder and hot sauce to it.

French onion beyond a shadow of a doubt.
About the only reason I would ever go to downtown St. Louis apart from Baseball & Hockey games (It's almost dead) was to go to Famous-Barr (Which is now defunct - Ok, I'm feeling old now) and have their French Onion soup.. it was the best!

I promised to post my stilton soup recipe.
50 g butter
1 med onion finely chopped
25 g flour
300 ml milk
450 ml stock (chicken, ham or bacon)
175 g stilton cheese finely diced
salt and pepper
pinch dry mustard powder (optional)
4 tablespoons double cream
1 head of brocolli cut into small florets
heat the butter in a pan, stir in onion and cook gently for several minutes but do not discolour.blend in the flour, then gradually add the milk and stock. Bring to the boil, stir as it thickens. Add the brocolli then simmer for 10 minutes.
Add the cheese, cream and season to taste. Stir over a low heat for 1 to 2 minutes and then you can sieve or liquidise it to give a perfectly smooth soup..

Most any kind of cream-based soup will make me happy. Although I'm not a big fan of New England Chowder.
There is a restaurant here that makes a chicken-mushroom soup that I could BATHE in and die a happy woman.
I love Chunky brand Corn Chowder, and most any potato soup.
I love wedding soup too, especially if they melt some yummy cheese in it.
The one thing I never really liked, is when they serve it in bread bowls (hollowed out bread.) I don't know why, but I just don't like it when it's served that way. I guess I'm weird.
Tomato soup I don't really like (but will eat it if it's used as sauce for cabbage rolls or stuffed peppers)

I recently bought Loyd Grossman's Carrot and Coriander soup and it was gorgeous. His range of six soups comes in pouches - very handy. All I had to do was cut a corner off the pouch, place it in the microwave and heat the soup in the pouch.

Minestrone is still my all-time favorite.
I am also going to add clam chowder to the lists of soups I enjoy. It's good on a cold day. (Once I was in a seafood restaurant on a cold day and saw clam chowder listed on the menu, so I felt a craving for it. And it was yummy!)

Also since I originally posted on this thread (almost 16 years ago now), I must add lentil soup to my repertoire. In recent years, we’ve found a recipe for lentil soup, which we tried… and really loved. O0
