Subject: Favorite Fried Foods

after reading about waffle fries and onion rings I thought a Fried food thread needed to be here.
Tony Romas rib restaurant makes an appetizer that I think is called the Onion Loaf and it rocks.

I really don't like fried foods, and I try to stay away from them as much as I can (not only for the fact that they are fattening, but I have a stomach ulcer...and it's not good for that). I do like to have (every once in awhile) fried zucchini...that's pretty good.

they are fattening, & if you gotta stay away for health reasons, it's understandable & an ulcer sucks. I've had my share of stomach ills, but present state, I can chow down on just about anything I like. Fried zucchini with some ranch dip to dip it in. yum ;)

I don't usually like fried foods, mostly because I like to eat healthy things. The only fried foods I don't mind eating are French fries, but only the frozen kind...and the kind from In-N-Out.

I try to stay away from it for the most part. Darn diet.
But my faves include:
Fried zucchini (or however you spell that word); Onion Rings, Hush Puppies from Long John Silvers; and fried cheese curds from A & W
I used to like fried ice cream from Chi Chi's about once a year. Now my local Japanese restaurant has it, but I haven't tried it yet.

You know when it comes to corn dogs, I have a obsessive compulsive routine to eating them. I have to eat the fried batter first and then I eat the hot dog (with mustard, of course). I can rarely eat them together.

Yeah they are the same thing except made from Wisconsin white cheddar cheese, lightly breaded and fried to a golden brown. The fine folks in Wisconsin -- who know their cheese -- coined the quirky name for the popular appetizer. They aer small little bite-sized things. As Rachael Ray would say Yumm-o.
I get them at A & W when I cannot resist my cravings any longer.

:o Thats how I eat mine a lot of the time. I wouldn't call myself OCD about it though, I can eat it either way. I also have a tendency to eat the toppings off of Pizza first(pepperonis, sausage, even the cheese).

Freeze the Mars Bar before dipping it in the batter. Use a batter that includes bread crumbs and sugar, and, re-freeze the battered bar before frying.
Then take 'em out of the bag while they're still frozen, and drop 'em in. Crispy on the outside (fried, hot), tender on the inside (warm, as in, the chocolate is melted, and inner part can be solid and chilly to gooey and warm). Takes about 15-20 seconds, tops. Just stop when you see the outer part start to caramelize. Eat immediately.

If you were talking about Mars bars, you oughta try it with chocolate truffles. Google for a recipe for "ganache", make some, and do everything except what comes naturally.
Frozen breaded chocolate treats keep indefinitly in the freezer. They'll wait as long as they have to to find a deep fryer. Great energy-efficient desserts. (The difference between 250F and 350F is a lot smaller than the difference between 70F and 350F!)

Fried eggs
French fries
KFC chicken
Fried mushrooms (for cooked breakfasts)
Fried onions (for burgers and hot dogs)
Omelettes (Ham, cheese or chicken)
I'd rather have my food shallow fried than deep fried and I like to use olive oil.

Lumpia is hella good.
My dad makes his own chicken wings and fries them up. You know how KFC has been advertising those crispy spicy fried wings with no sauce? My dad has been doing that for YEARS, and I'm sure they're a million times better than KFC.
