Ok...I have 2 that really stand out in my mind....

The first one was at Pizza Hut. Me, my mom, and sisters were there for the pizza lunch buffet.  While we were eating....we found not one, not two, but 3 different pieces of hair in our food...and the kicker is that they were all different colors....one was black/dark brown....one was blond...and one was reddish!!! YUCK! :P

Then the second one was when were were eating at Ponderosa Steakhouse...I was about 16 or so. I was innocently going up to the saladbar when all of a sudden...some guy with his kid start running right toward me...and then all of a sudden....I felt puke all over me...YES, my friends....spaghetti puke from a strange young boy.  I wanted to DIE...and the worst thing about it is that the guy didn't even apologize or even acknowledge what happened to me. My mom had to take me to the bathroom and help me clean up...luckily..I had a hoodie on that day..and that is what got the major part of the puke...so I just took it off....To this day...I hate eating at that place. :(

Considering how often I eat at restaurants, I've had relatively few bad experiences...

I think the only really bad one that stands out was one time the waiter was talking and accidentally spit on me as he was talking... ya know, say it don't spray it... that really grossed me out.

And then another time my friend and I were at a Carrow's Restaurant and at the next table over there was this drunk, homeless looking guy and he was sitting at his table talking to himself... then proceeded to yell at himself, and he was flailing his arms everywhere... it was really creepy.  It was like 2:30 in the morning so the restaurant was almost empty. :P

Apart from the Dairy Queen stomach story, about 10 or so years ago, I went with my dad to Harveys (Canadian Restaurant as part of the Swiss Chalet chain).  So my dad orders an Original Hamburger, and as I stand there watching them make it, the young girl who was grilling it was also picking the pimples off her face.  I don't know if one of them fell into the grill, but we didn't chance it, and left

A similiar story occured at Burger King.  The dude who was making my whopper, first scratched his ass, then scratched his nuts, then he wiped snot from his nose on his sleeve.  Then he put his hands on the burger which I was afraid was going to be mine.  Luckily it wasn't, but again, I wasn't gonna chance it, so I got the hell out of there

I went to Lyon's once, and my sister had a WORM in her salad.

About 9 years ago, I had just started trucking and was still with a trainer. He lived in North Carolina, and took some time off at home to spend with his family. He, his wife and I went to a Chinese buffet on a Sunday morning when some nasty looking redneck with a mullet and a wifebeater shirt started taking things off of the buffet, and he was up to his elbows in automotive grease, as if he had been tearing down an engine or something. The jerk was either too lazy or stupid (or both) to wash up before eating. Several people complained to the manager, telling him to change out everything this pig had touched, but no one confronted the redneck directly for some odd reason. I was a lot more timid back then than I am now, and if I had the courage I had today I would have told him to WASH HIS FREAKIN' HANDS.  :P

Onceuponatime... in a land called "Chicago"... at a restaurant called the "Golden Nugget" (or "cold, an' fudge it")... after the ightclubs closed... I wandered into the men's room to, you know, piddle and wash the ol' hands... and there was ONE stall, and ONE urinal... and in the stall was a leather man getting a blowjob by another leather man... which in itself doesn't really bother me... EXCEPT.. the one getting the BJ was starting at ME the whole time. Really, that was a bit disturbing. I wandered back out and shared the news with my companions who all were either A. grossed out or B. tickled pink.

How gross do you want me to get here? I know a couple of restaurant horror stories that involve, uh, I'll be delicate and just say that they involve "male-specific bodily fluids." (Thankfully, I was in no way involved in these stories.) Shall I proceed or not?

I'll hold off for now, but I'm sure that if I don't go there, someone else will.  :o :o :o

My friend once had one of those blue catering plasters in her meal  :P

The worst thing that springs to mind was I was in a pub with some friends and we were all eating. The table next to us had a couple with a baby at it and they were also eating though just about finished with their meal. The woman then whipped out a breast and started feeding the baby which was ok though somewhat embarassing forthe guys at my table as she wasn't exactly doing it discreatly. The thing that made us leave was when she pushed the plates on her table to one side and started changing the baby's nappy(diaper) right there on the table in front of us all !?!  and yes it was a 'dirty' one.............

I don't have problems with women breastfeeding in public. In fact, my step-daughter often breastfeeds her daughter-and yes, at restaurants, too. Now, changing the diaper at the table...that is another matter.  :P

The expercience I had was when I was in Greece. A few friends of mine and I were looking for some place to eat. The thing is about restaurants in Greece is that most don't open until 7 and it was early. But there was this one place that was open. As we walked by-debating whether to eat there or not, I guess the people who owned the place read our minds and almost dragged us into the place. The woman took me into the kitchen to show me what she was cooking (some kind of chicken dish) and you can see the flies EVERYWHERE and the place wasn't that clean. The woman kept talking to me but in Greek which I didn't understand a word. I went back to my friends who were sitting at a table (yes, we were the only ones in the place besides the owners). None of us had the heart to tell them that we weren't interested and we felt like we couldn't leave. So we ate that chicken dish (and if I remember corrected it wasn't TOO bad-had worse). But after that, we made it a point not to walk too close to the place for fear of being dragged in again.

Another time, Carlos and I were at a casino/resort on the boarder of Nevada on our way back from one of our trips to L.A. The cockroaches in our hotel room were free.  ::)  Then when we were having dinner, I looked down at Carlos' steak and asked him why his steak was green. This was after he ate a good portion of it and neither of us noticed it. He called the waiter over and he went into the kitchen to find out what the deal was. The story we were told was that it was the U.S.D.A. stamp. If that was the case, they could have cut that part off before serving it. Needless to say, we will NEVER go back to that place again.

Next: We had a restaurant here in town. We went to it and I ordered lobster (one of my favorite meals). But it tasted spoiled.  :P  The only time I ever sent lobster back and ordered something else. We never went back there and the restaurant closed and was torn down.

My final story is about a restaurant where I used to live that had the rep of being the WORSE restaurant in the area. There was a rumor that they finally got a good chef there so the guy I was living with decided to try it out. That day just happened to be the chef's day off.  ::)  I ordered lasagna which they nuked-and of course it was cold in the middle. Again-never went back there again.

I can't quite remember WHERE it was-just on the board between Nevada and Utah (I think). The name of the place was called Casa Blanca.

We were at a local amusement park and stopped in one of the food places to eat. The one we picked, had one guy working in it. He was taking the money and making the food. Coincidently, we had just watched a show on tv about how many germs there are on money, where they use a light and show how nasty it is. While we're in line watching this guy, I told my husband, "he's making food after he touches all that money", so when we got up there to order, my husband said "will you go wash your hands before you make our food?". The guy looked at us like we were crazy, which is when we said, oh forget it, and left.

Just as a side note, I don't even know how many times I've found hair in my food at various restraunts. It's a running joke in the family now, whenever we go out, my husband and kids say, don't let them see you come in, they'll put hair in your food! Or, they tell me not to examine my food so close when it gets to the table.  :D

There is a little deli down the road from us. We like to stop there on our way to the boat to get a sub to take with us. But, the last time we were there, the girl was making the sub WITHOUT gloves.  :P  We stopped going there.

I just remembered a few that happened when I worked at Eat-n-Park.  There were a few times when I would serve food to people...and they would find more on their plate than just food.  One time I served this sandwich and when I went back to check on the customer...they showed me something that they nearly chomped into.....it turned out to be a bolt (and I found out that it had come from the microwave back in the kitchen...which happened to be falling apart).

One other time I was serving a stir-fry dinner to someone...and I looked down and saw one of those little label stickers that have the date on them.  I guess the rice or veggies or something was already pre-packaged by the prep cooks...and they would swipe a date sticker on the package...well, the sticker ended up making it straight to the entree. Yick! :P

We're lucky that one of our best friends is a Health Inspector for the Council.  Before we go anywhere I always run it by Cathy and she can either tell me what a place is like or can get one of her colleagues to check a place out before we go.  This system is working well  :)

I know there have been a few, but the grossest I can remember was at a Hooter's.

I ordered a Philly Cheese Steak and ate almost all of it.
I was down to the last 3 or 4 bites and the cheese wasn't melted anymore...
but there was a piece of steak hanging down from the bun.
Upon further examination, I found a hair that was about 5 inches long wound around the steak in my sandwich!

Needless to say, my dinner was free and it had better of being because the toilet got more enjoyment out of it than I did!

There was a time that we went to a chinese buffet right before school started again last year. My father dared me to eat a bbqed spuid for a nice zip up binder. I ate eeverything else on my plate before eating the spuid which made it go cold. so before I ate it Tam went and got her own and ate it like it was her most favorite food. Then I popped my cold ones into my mouth and they felt like rubber. due to the tentecles I gaggeed and that was the end of that!

The grossest experience I ever had in a restaurant was this: 10 years ago this month, I was eating dinner at a Black Angus restaurant...and found a surprise in my broccoli! Apparently a worm was in there (but it was very tiny...still noticeable, though!). So we alerted the manager, who came to our table and apologized all over the place; he took my plate away and gave me a small plate of tomatoes. Best of all, he deducted my order (salmon) from the bill.

I've not had any truly horrifying moments while eating in a restaurant, but I've seen a few while working at them.

Olde Town Pizza - my first job, the boss would occasionally work the grill during lunch shift. He sweat like a pig, so while he's making food he's sweating all in it, beads of sweat would hit the grill and sizzle off, etc. He gave out a lot of free beer though, so no one complained.

He once washed off a marinated chicken breast after it hit the floor and served it up.

McDonald's - I worked there for about 3 weeks when I was 17. I quit after another employee spent two minutes convincing the manager to throw away a 1 cent slice of cheese that dropped on the floor rather than wash it off and serve it.

I've walked in twice (at two different restaurants) on people doing lewd things in the walk-in freezers.

Just as he started to crawl up on the salt shaker, i unscrewed the cap and locked him in.  I showed him who's boss ;D

I'm sort of afraid to eat there anymore, becuase if the spiders can crawl on the tables, who says they can't crawl into the food when it's being cooked? :o

It didn't happen while I was there. But my sister had a hostess job at Red Lobster, and she told of the time when two old women were eating in the non-smoking section. Then one of the women had diarrhea and literally crapped in one of the booths. The smell was so overpowering that they had to move the other diners from the area. It took a long time to defumigate the whole restaurant.

I was stationed at Luke AFB out in AZ  for a while and when I first got there we had a very old chow hall, it was probably built in the 40s.  Well, me and a coworker would head there after work for dinner.  While we were eating we would see mice running around the dinning room.  It was a little suprising, to say the least.  They eventually tore the place down after they built a new one.

Another ketchup incident happened last week. When I go to fast food chain like Burger King, McDonald's and KFC, I ask for sachets of ketchup.

Last week, I went to McDonald's with my Link Worker after we went swimming. I squeezed ketchup over my fries, but some of it went on my tracksuit top - the same one my sister squirted ketchup on. Luckily Eva got out a wipe and wiped the ketchup off.

This was what happened to me at a stop on a road trip to AZ.
Flies buzzed through the musty air as grease slowly trickled off a grime-covered, rickety stove. The hunch backed waitress slinked in-between the sticky, juice infested aluminum tables. Rusting chairs toppled down on their own accord as mice and cockroaches scurried across the rotting wooden floor. A neon sign hung, half illuminated in cat vomit pink, casting cruel shadows into moldy corners. A putrid, yellow puss oozed out of the stale stake as a man covered in vermin ate, oil dripping down onto his disheveled beard.

Star Pizza in North Andover, Mass.

My sister found a cockroach in her Italian sub.  But it was worse...by the time she found it, it was a half a cockroach!

She ate the sub?  :o 8-P She should've returned it got your money back and left.

I would have died lol. That is super gross!

I've been in restaurants where I've seen insects flying around, and have found hairs in my food. I'm picky about which restaurants I go to now. I ask questions and make sure everything is neat lol.

restaurants these days today should have a letter grade on the window to show the cleanliness of each place.

I totally agree. That kind of thing has been in effect for Los Angeles County eateries since 1998. I wish other counties in California would implement it too.

New York has been doing the same with the letter grades.

I ALWAYS look for these, and I will not go into any place where there is a B or a C on the window ;D

I feel the same way about Los Angeles County eateries that have those letter grades.

Mind you, that incident was 25 years ago.  Last time I drove through town the place was STILL open.  In fact, Star Pizza was one of the only downtown NA business still around from the eighties!

Wolfe's Tavern, Wolfeboro, NH.

I ordered French toast and the bread arrived spotted with blue mold.

Attention restaurateurs -- If you want the customer to remember your eatery, dish up bread that looks like this:

They'll remember you!

Howard, she was eating the sub without knowing there was a roach on it.  I doubt she continued eating it once she discovered it.  There was only half of the roach left because either it was already cut in half when the sandwich was made OR she ate part of it accidentally.

I wonder which other cities/counties around the U.S. have letter grades for their eateries.

So people there have probably been eating grinders with cockroaches for over 20 years!

Locally they use a system of grading from 1 to 5 with 5 being the best.  The kitchens at James's school are ranked a 5 I spotted the other day

One time my daughter's class had a trip to the library and lunch afterwards at a place called Piccadilly Cafeteria.  They're not a buffet but you walk along the line and choose from three or four selections of salad, meat, sides, etc..  The kids' lunch was prepared especially for them, chicken strips and fries.  I thought I'd get myself some lunch, I got a tray and started to see what they had.  There were roaches walking across the food, right there in front of everyone.  I thought to myself, if there are roaches now I wonder what this place looks like when then lights go out.  I did not get lunch.  They closed a few months later.

My aunt ate some of a small mouse at a KFC once thinking it was a potato wedge. She said the "potato wedge" tasted funny and when she looked closer saw the small creature all fried up. She complained, of course, and the KFC was closed down for further inspection. I had gone there once before but didn't eat there because I had seen flies everywhere and that is usually a sign that a place isn't sanitary.

I'd rather eat in a restaurant that has an A or B rating. a C or D is kind of cutting it close.

It didn't happen to me. Here is my friend's story: He ordered a bowl of spareribswith soup at the bottom. At the end, when he would like to have the soup, he found there is a cockroach floating on it. And then everyone know what he will react.

Whoa, do they give D grades? If a restaurant scores below 70%, that can't be safe. I'd think the health department would close it down.

Yes they give D ratings but if they did it would've been shut down.

Sitting in a diner near work, the roof had a leak dripping on to the food.  If you see a diner near a jobsite with a lot of construction workers, and the construction workers don't eat there, don't go in.

Went to a fancy schmancy place in New York, you know the kind...over priced food and crappy service.  ;D
Anyhow, it sat a little pond and it was very pretty but in the middle of lunch this HUGE rat was just meandering around on the outside deck.  Biggest damn rat I ever saw...gross.

Thought so. But like I said, they never show any such things on L.A. County eateries; they probably would shut 'em down if they got that kind of a rating.

Pizza Hut.  I don't recall the location.

There was a bloody Band-Aid in the lettuce.  Guess I'll skip the iceberg.  I think I'll just skip the salad bar altogether!

My friend reported it.  Guy comes out of the kitchen and takes the bowl of lettuce back.  He returns a moment later and it's the same bowl of lettuce!
