I prefer pasta/noodles/macroni.  But, if I had to choose between potatoes or rice, it would be rice.

I like potatoes...so much can be done with them...I also like rice but chose potatoes for thier diversity :)

I kinda like 'em both, but I often prefer rice. When I'm in a restaurant, and I'm ordering an entree with the option of potatoes or rice, often times I'll go for rice. If potatoes are an option but rice isn't, then I may choose potatoes unless there's a more appealing option (like fresh fruit, for instance).
As for potatoes, I like 'em mashed most of the time, but if I have to have it baked, I'll mash it up myself. I don't often like them fried, though. I used to (when I was a little kid), but now I like to try to eat healthier whenever possible. So whenever I go to Burger King or Carl's Junior, I don't order fries anymore. Occasionally I might have a few, but I don't load up on them. ;)

Potatos, french fried! Too bad I haven't had any since last January. Also, twice baked and instant mashed with instant gravy. You ever notice how many resturants advertise that they have "Homestyle Cooking?" If I wanted homestyle I would make it myself or go to my mum's! I go out for exotic foods that I can't get easily at home.

Because R&R fan, I started Atkins last January and potatos are too high in carbs. Course, the 50 pounds I have lost since then is a worthwile trade off. I still really miss McD's fries smothered in ketchup. When Thanksgiving comes 'round, it is going to kill me to not have my mums stuffing. :-[

Hey Luke....I already can imagine what sweat squeezed from smelly sneakers that soaked in the mud and sun for a week may taste like....but if you still want to come visit it would be great to give you another tour of Colorado Springs. You haven't been here since that New Years Party that I threw at my old house in December 2002 :)

Me too! Indian, Chinese, Thai food... all revolve around the mighty delicious rice! Fried, boiled, coconut, turmeric... it's all good.
Oh and you get rice pudding too! What more could you ask for! ;)

I love both.
A baked sweet potato with brown sugar and butter (not any of those canned things though 8-P) is great at the places that offer them.
But I love Wild Rice pilafs and will normally choose those over a potato.
Rice pudding is great also.
But I can not resist a good mashed potato and gravy or even a baked potato.

Should the global food crisis ever hit 'panic' status, I can always try growing spuds, which I can't really do with rice...

I have never like the taste of saffron, and very expensive too.
