Due to the recent Writer's Guild strike that started on May 2, there might be a delay on seeing new episodes of some of your favorite shows.

Is the strike affecting the Hollywood and cinema industry too?

Probably not yet as most of the major release movies are already in the post-production stage, but might affect the movies of next year.

The Chosen, which is currently filming Season 4, was granted a SAG waiver as of this past weekend. Thank God! Otherwise its filming would be shut down.
After watching Season 3, I'm already impatient for Season 4 to be released; months of extra delay could drive me over the edge. :D

Keep in mind that we, as watchers, are not harmed by this strike. There are plenty of shows and movies out there to keep us entertained. But the writers and actors are being harmed by corporate greed. I saw some of what some of these people are being paid and it wouldn't even be enough to buy a cup of coffee. I can't find where I read it but one actor who is on a very popular Netflix show only receives 13 cent per ep. Yup. You read that correct. THIRTEEN CENTS! Meanwhile, the CEOs are raking in the boocoo bucks.
I stand with these people 100% for however long it takes. And if that means there is a delay (or cancellation) of some shows, so be it. It will not effect me in any way, shape, or form. But, this is these people's livelihoods. Well, not really since a lot of them have to work more than one job to stay afloat.

Are you sure you read that right? Are you sure it's not residuals or royalties that are 13 cents an episode? I'm sure the actor got a decent salary to show up and perform in the show. Nobody gets paid 13 cents to do a job, it's below the minimum wage and illegal. Those low royalty rates, however, are the same with musical artists now, with Spotify and all that. Royalties aren't what they used to be.

After looking into this, it becomes apparent these are not a bunch of overpaid actors trying to raise their fat paychecks; the actors and writers have some legitimate beefs. Curiously the use of AI is one of their concerns. As there has been an ongoing paradigm shift for video entertainment over the last several years, I have no doubt some things have gotten out of whack. I just hope and pray the parties can resolve this before too much time elapses, as it seems to be a lose-lose proposition for all the longer the strike goes on. :-\\

It may be royalties. But, still. And when you see how much the CEOs are being paid, it is unreal.

With the whole SAG strike, Cineplex theatres here in Canada have said they will start showing older movies on the big screen. I think that 's a good idea to fill the void of no new movies coming out, just as long as the ticket prices aren't the same
I paid $14 to see Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny on a big screen, but I won't pay that to see Raiders of the Lost Ark on a big screen
