Chaser Paul Sinha has shared his heartache over being unable to continue a part of his career that he really "loved" due to his battle with Parkinson's disease.

I have been watching the American version of this programme, which is currently in production and can be seen on ABC Network. I think it has an interesting concept.

Sarah Haines is the host. There are 4 "Chasers", all male: Ken Jennings, Brad Rutter, James Holtzhauer and Mark "The Beast" Labett.

So far in 2022, two episodes of the American version have aired; no contestants have outrun the Chaser on the Final Chase yet.

In the episode that aired on January 5th, James Holtzhauer outran two contestants with 6 seconds left on the clock.
In the episode that aired on January 12th, Mark "The Beast" Labett outran three contestants with 36 seconds left on the clock; he was cruising right along. He only made one mistake, which the contestants capitalized on, but it wasn't enough.

Okay, last week's episode, which featured all female contestants, had two of them getting to the final round. Chaser: Ken Jennings.

They managed to outrun him, capitalizing on several pushback opportunities, especially during the last 40+ seconds.

So there are no new episodes for the UK version? (At least, not at the moment?)

For the American version, there won't be a new episode this week, but there will be one next week. (On Groundhog Day, no less!)

The show is so popular it is broadcast every week day. They cannot make enough shows to keep up with demand. Obviously no new shows were made for a while in 2020 while they sorted out the new protocols.

Some quizzes have adapted by using plastic screens or distancing the contestants, but soon those shows will be repeats.

Yup. Even "Jeopardy!" redesigned the stage so that the podiums became social-distanced.

Anyways...I finally got to watch the episode that aired on ABC last week.

Chaser: Mark Labett. All 3 contestants survived the "Face the Chaser" rounds, with only one wrong answer (by a contestant) on a multiple choice question. They built up a total of $210,000.

In the Final Chase, the contestants gave 19 correct answers for a total of 22 Steps ahead (they could've had at least one more).

The Beast looked like he might catch them down the stretch, but he fumbled a few times (including once 20 seconds in), but the contestants capitalized on all but one pushback opportunity. So they each won $70k.

There were two episodes that aired on Feb 9th.

In the first episode, Brad Rutter was the Chaser. One contestant (a female) survived the "Face The Chaser" round; the other two (both male) didn't.
In the Final Chase round, the lone contestant built up a 12-step cushion, but it just wasn't enough. The Buzzsaw easily caught her with 50-someodd seconds left on the clock.

The second episode had Mark Labett as the Chaser. The first two contestants survived the "Face The Chaser" round(s), banking a total of $100,000. The third contestant, who made $60,000 in the Cash Builder and stuck with it, almost got it down to the Bank, but he missed the last question and the Chaser got it right.
The Final Chase in that episode saw the contestants build up a 16-step cushion (although I think they could've had more; I couldn't believe that neither of them knew that the square root of one million was one thousand). They managed to outrun The Beast, capitalizing on several pushback opportunities, especially during the final 50+ seconds.

I finally got to see the two episodes from February 16th. In the first one, James Holtzhauer caught the two contestants who reached the Final Chase. In the second one, all three contestants outran Ken Jennings, who missed several questions in the Face The Chaser rounds; and in the Final Chase, the group capitalized on several pushback opportunities.

After a two-month hiatus, the American version of The Chase is rolling out some new episodes beginning on May 3rd. (I'm sure some of them have already been filmed.)

The third season began with the episode that aired May 3rd. James Holtzhauer and Brad Rutter remain as Chasers, but Ken Jennings and Mark "The Beast" Labett have departed, but three new Chasers have replaced them: Brandon "Lightning Bolt" Blackwell, Buzzy "The Stunner" Cohen, and a woman named Victoria “The Queen” Groce.

Anyhoo... Brandon was the Chaser in the May 3rd episode. All three contestants managed to bank the money they each earned in the Cash Builders...
but they could not outrun Brandon in the Final Chase. :-\\

May 10th:

The first two contestants (both female) managed to bank their respective Cash Builder earnings (both sticking with the amounts they earned, rather than taking the lower or higher offers). The third contestant (a male) was cruising right along in the Cash Builder, and attempted to bank the higher offer ($300K) but was caught by the Chaser (James Holtzhauer) with only one correct answer standing between him and the bank. Thus the women carried $70,000 to the Final Chase.

They built up a 19-step advantage (originally 20, but one of their answers which had initially been ruled correct was found to be incorrect). Then they capitalized on a few pushback opportunities, and managed to outrun him: the clock ran out with only 2 steps left; thus, the ladies split a $70,000 jackpot, each taking home $35K of the winnings.

May 17th:

Victoria "The Queen" Groce was the Chaser, making this the first episode of the ABC series to have a female Chaser. All three contestants banked the money they earned in their respective Cash Builder rounds. In the Final Chase, they gave 16 correct answers, thus giving them a 19-step advantage.

However, even though they managed to capitalize on most of their pushback opportunities, they didn't quite make it. With 1 step left on the board and 1 second left on the clock, the Chaser gave a correct answer, thus denying the contestants any winnings. :-[ As host Sarah Haines put it: "Right under the buzzer." #ChaseUpset

May 24th:

The first contestant was caught by the Chaser (Brad Rutter), but the other two contestants (both male) managed to bank their cash: a total of $300,000. (One took the offer they earned in the Cash Builder, and the other took the higher offer.)

In the Final Chase...
The two contestants gave 14 correct answers to give them a 16-step advantage. Brad answered several questions incorrectly, enabling the contestants to capitalize on several pushback opportunities. The final time that the clock stopped, there was only one second left, and 8 steps were left on the board, so the contestants won the jackpot, each earning $150K.

On last week’s episode, Buzzy Cohen (“The Stunner”) made his first appearance as the Chaser. He outran the two contestants who were able to bank money. (The first one didn’t get any correct answers on the multiple choice questions.)

On the June 14 episode, James Holtzhauer was the Chaser. All three contestants reached the Final Chase, but they couldn't outrun him.

On the June 21 episode (the most recent one to air), Brandon "Lightning Bolt" Blackwell made his second appearance as the Chaser.

The three contestants all failed to bank the money they earned in their respective Cash Builder rounds. (In such an event, the three contestants make a decision backstage as to which one of them will play the Final Chase, solo. And the amount they play for is predetermined. And if the lone contestant outruns the Chaser, the prize money is split evenly amongst all three players.) So the second contestant, a man named Sean, played the Final Chase for a shot at redemption. He was given a 1-step headstart, answered 16 questions correctly to build a 17-step advantage over the Chaser.
Then when it was the Chaser's turn to play, he started out fairly well, but missed several questions, so the contestant was able to capitalize on several pushback opportunities (especially toward the end). Time ran out with 6 steps left on the board, so the prize money ($60,000) was split among the contestants (they received $20,000 each).

Interesting. I don’t know if this has ever happened in the U.K. version of the show. Dai and I were speculating the other week what might happen if no one made it to the final chase.

I have seen it, and one of the contestants is nominated by the other contestants to go for it, probably the most brainiest one.

And I think that on the June 21 episode (of the current series that airs on ABC), they clearly picked the right contestant.

Then after he successfully outran the Chaser, the other two players came back out on the stage to congratulate him.

Actually.. the episodes airing this month are from Season Three; they were just held over from July.

On the episode that aired January 5th, all three contestants successfully banked the exact amounts of money they earned in their respective Cash Builder rounds. In the Final Chase, they answered 17 questions correctly to build a 20-step advantage over The Queen…
But it wasn’t enough to outrun her. Even with two successful pushbacks.

On the episode that aired January 12th 2023:

Brandon “Lightning Bolt” Blackwell was the chaser. The first two contestants successfully banked money (with the latter taking the higher offer), but the third contestant didn’t get one right answer when facing the chaser. So there was $290,000 at stake for the Final Chase. The contestants answered 12 questions correctly, for a 14-step advantage (although they could have had a few more). The chaser was in a good position to catch the contestants during the first minute, but he struggled on some of the questions, and the contestants capitalized on four pushback opportunities. The clock ran out with four steps left on the board, so the contestants each took home $145,000.

The episode that aired 19 January 2023 featured Buzzy "The Stunner" Cohen as the chaser. All three contestants successfully banked the money that they earned in the Cash Builder (none of them went for the lower or higher offers), for a total of $140,000. In the Final Chase, the contestants built a 14-step advantage; and when it was the chaser's turn, he struggled on several of the questions, sometimes not thinking of an answer after 5 seconds. The contestants capitalized on several pushback opportunities; and the clock ran out with 9 steps left on the board, so the contestants shared the banked money (each getting $46,666.67, although one of them would have to get one penny less, since 3 doesn't go into 140 evenly).

In the episode that aired this past Thursday, February 2nd, Victoria "The Queen" Groce was the Chaser.

Only the first contestant, a man, was able to bank the money that he earned in the Cash Builder ($60,000; he chose to keep that amount when facing the Chaser). In the Final Chase, he answered 14 questions correctly to build a 15-step cushion on the Chaser. (He could have had a few more; in fact, I knew a number of the answers to some of the questions that he didn't answer correctly.) When it was the Chaser's turn to answer (to try to catch the contestant), she fumbled on seven of the questions, and the contestant was able to capitalize on four pushback opportunities. The clock ran out with 2 steps left on the board (there were 3, but she gave a correct answer right under the buzzer), so the contestant won the $60,000. Now the Queen is no longer undefeated; in fact, she congratulated the contestant on outrunning her.

The February 9th episode was kind of a downer.

The chaser was Brad "Buzzsaw" Rutter. All three contestants attempted the higher offer, but none of them could bank any of the money. So the last contestant was chosen to play the Final Chase for a chance at redemption. He was given a 1-step head start; answered 12 questions correctly for a 13-step advantage. When it was the chaser's turn to answer questions, he gave a few wrong answers; the contestant was able to capitalize on some of these pushback opportunities...but it wasn't quite enough. The chaser cleared all the steps with 33 seconds left on the clock, meaning that the contestant(s) went home empty-handed. :-\\
