Subject: Twin Peaks to return to US TV next year

US network Showtime has confirmed cult drama Twin Peaks will return to US TV early next year.
Series creator David Lynch (pictured), who has returned to write the new show, has apparently shot around half of the season and will direct all the episodes. Kyle MacLachlan has also returned to reprise his role of FBI special agent Dale Cooper.
Laura Dern is reported to be joining the cast, as well as James Belushi.
Showtime boss David Nevins told reporters in Los Angeles he was "incredibly excited" about the 25 minutes of footage he had seen.
"It was stupendous. It was incredibly exciting. I don't want to sit here and overhype it, but I was incredibly excited. You definitely felt like you were in the hands of a master," he said.
No word yet on whether the series will be shown on UK TV, but we'll keep you posted.
