Subject: Girl Meets World
Written By: Slim95 on 06/30/14 at 4:19 pm
Has anyone seen the Spin-Off to the the popular 90's show Boy Meets World yet? The pilot episode aired on Friday. Both Cory and Topanga are on the show as parents to the main character now. I think it's not going to be anywhere close to as good as BMW was especially because it's airing on Disney. But hopefully the show will be okay and Mr. Feeny is coming back as well. :)

I watched the show with my daughter when it came on. I kind of liked it. Brings back memories of when I used to watch it on the TGIF lineup. :)

I did and it was a good pilot. I almost laughed during the whole episode. I hope it can keep up with the original.

This is the first time I'm hearing about this! I used to watch BMW quite a bit when I was a kid, and the whole TGIF lineup.

Like all other Disney shows, it's gonna get cancelled after three seasons and 60-something episodes.
If the show is going to survive it needs to move to ABC Family and focus on more serious topics. This new show is just a simple comedy that does not even try to relate to the audience in any significant, meaningful way.

Um, 'Boy Meets World' was NEVER a popular 90s show.

I loved Boy Meets World.
In the words of a Blaine Edwards, hated itttt. It was a rip-off of 'The Wonder Years' and 'The Wonder Years' was always the better show out of the two of them. 'The Wonder Years' was actually pop culture too. I don't get how this junk got a spin-off. Oh right, those ever annoying '90s kids' whined and whined until it was made.

It was more of a 00's show.
How so? The show started in 1992 and ended in 2000.. :P

You mean 1993, right? In '92, that junk would never fly with mainstream audiences. It would be off the air quicker than Cop Rock. Boy Meets World came out at just the right time, immediately after Clinton took office. In other words, this was the ultimate show of the touchy-feely 1990s (The Clinton days). The early 90s (more like 1989) were dead and we were officially in the mid 1990s (they took off with late 1992). I hate 'Boy Meets World' with a passion.

It seeped into that whole 1999-2002 era. It entered when Clinton did and left with him too.

With my sources and my list of Boy Meets World's reception, it's pretty obvious that it was a popular '90s show. Unpopular TV shows do not get seven seasons. Just because you didn't like it doesn't mean everyone else disliked it.

Interesting, it was never mentioned on any episode of VH1's "I Love the 90s" or any book on the 1990s. "Boy Meets World" was nothing other than "The Wonder Years" (this was actually pop culture) set in present day for late Millenials.

Not sure if anyone else heard it but Girl Meets World is now cancelled. They finished airing the series finale a week ago and they will no longer be airing new seasons. It was a pretty short run (2014 - 2017) I think a lot of people got disappointed because it didn't meet their expectations or it wasn't as good as the original.

They needed to give Mr. Feeny more camera time.
