Let me see if I can explain a few things to you re. my theory and your questions...

Brian - I know I either posted it here or I sent you a text outlining how that works... I will find it and either reference it here, or write it all out if it was a text.

As for all the conversations that Dex/Deb has had with people about Dex or about Deb or between the two - it doesn't have to make sense. We watched Olmos and Hanks interact for almost an entire season and Olmos was actually a frozen popsicle in Hanks' basement freezer. With psychopaths there doesn't have to be a 'real world' per se. If the story line is from the viewpoint of either Dex or Deb - reality doesn't matter. Period.

Now let me see if I can find my Brian stuff...

Brian... he was real. Dex needed another person in the trailer with him when he was 'conceived'. Deb's inability to love, as a psychopath, made Dex have the connection with Brian. I think what I actually meant was that Brian was a real person. Deb connected with him because Dex did. Dex realized that this guy was everything that Dex was, only shaded slightly different. Deb never lasts in relationships, but Dex identified with him. Dex came up with a background story for himself that Brian was his biological brother and they were both born in blood in the trailer.

2nd idea about Brian after thinking about it a lot...

Brian was a patient of Vogel's. I have no further elaboration on it at this point.

Vogel says that Deb trying to kill them both was her hitting rock bottom, but her saving Dexter is her first step to recovery. I wish I could quote Dex word for word with his reply... alas, he said he was "So --- happy for you". The face. I love MCH's acting!!!

And when he walks out of Vogel's: "Make sure you write this down"

Hmm... something indicative: Dex's inner monologue, he is talking to himself about how he will actually enjoy a day at work without Deb being around and he would actually get some peace and quiet. Deb hasn't worked at Miami Metro for over 6 months. Why would she be around at work? Peace and quiet? If they are one and the same, splitting the identities from each other would be the only likely way for peace and quiet...

Albert looks like a child - but he regains control. Throws Vogel back on the divan and tells her to stay. He walks away. Vogel tries to get out but can't. Instead she grabs a cell phone and calls Dex. Dex answers the phone and hears the entire conversation. Deb calls her boss to trace the number.

The end scene in This Little Piggy - Vogel is saying how Dex saved her and ended it all. Looking solely at him. Until Dex says... "and Deb" to which it seemed almost awkward that Vogel had to talk to someone else in the room.

And I had a thought tonight. If my theory is right, it would be cool as all heck if they have Deb and Dex sitting in an interrogation room, side by side, and as they are being questioned, the camera flicks back and forth between their faces, slowly at first, but then gets faster until there is finally one image - the person who is actually Dex/Deb.

The difference between olmos/hanks & dex/ deb is no one but hanks acknowledged olmos' existence. The waitress doesn't bring olmos coffee or talk to him. The chick in the apt has no clue he's there. He never interacted with anyone and no one talks about the stuff he does.

Like- Quinn talking to dex abt deb being undercover or getting arrested or confessing to killing laguerta. She's a tangible character who has experiences, conversations and what not.  The only thing that works- in your theory (btw I like Brian being a patient of vogels).

Maybe only way your theory works is- if there was some break in the relationship....possibly laguerta a shooting but let's go back to season one and say deb and dex were never close...not even as kids...and the deb dex scenes. The interaction. The companionship. The love- sibling love not the ewww factor love. All of that was fabricated in deb's or dex's mind. (Depending on if we go with your theory or mine lol)

Okay thinking about it more. It does make more sense for dex to be made up than deb because there are less interpersonal relationships to debunk but...

What abt masuka thinking Rita is having an affair w the neighbor? What about Rita's overall demise. What about Harrison? Lumin....unless deb had a lesbian fling w Lumien...actually that part does make sense.  :D

I have noticed the way Vogel focuses on one or the other. There's also something about the way she says their name when talking to one. It's a brilliant theory for sure and would be interesting to go back and watch the season from the beginning with that theory in mind.

Regardless of OUR theories, the directing and filming is nothing short of brilliant. From this stand point, they can pretty much take the plot in any direction. I think that is what I have loved the most about this series. You never know... I mean, yes, there are instances of predictability, but the final outcome is never what one expects.

I am so glad now that I didn't read any of the books. Granted, Jeff Lindsay hasn't written Dex's demise (or real story) yet (at least I don't think) but I wonder how much consulting he did with the shows creators? And I wonder how he agrees or disagrees with the series. Perhaps I will go look that up. lol

Episode 10: Goodbye Miami

Ooooooo Daniel is really ticked off at Vogel.
She really wants to help him but he doesn't believe she is sorry for everything she did to him.

Dex feels like he has to protect Vogel.
Bit there is never feelings when he kills normally.

Dex tells Deb he is leaving with Hannah
She goes off on him

Matthews grilling Vogel about Zack. Vogel couldn't act more suspicious!

Vogel tells Dex that Daniel won't hurt her. She tells him they had breakfast yesterday. She isn't a very good liar. She didn't tell him because she doesn't want Dex to kill him. She thinks she can establish trust with Daniel and then she will get him back into a facility.

Dex says he needs to take Care  of Daniel.  She doesn't want Dex to use her as a reason to kill Daniel

Deb tells Quinn that Dex and Harrison are leaving, traveling for the rest if the year. Quinn thinks its a great idea.

My theory for how the end of the series will go:

Tropical storm Laura is going to be a huge factor, making Dex and Hannah and Harrison head for Dex's yacht (which didn't sell in the last episode). They are going to head to sea either before or during the tropical storm. The yacht will later be found... empty. It will be believed that Dex, Hannah and Harrison perished during the storm. However... I believe they will somehow end up in Argentina. Like in The Dark Knight Rises - we will see Dex and Hannah and Harrison sitting down to eat somewhere or in a park or something like that - but definitely in Argentina. Fade Out.

I was thinking - in the next ep- how he references bus mother. And how Daniel says mom chose the wrong son again (in this ep). The series started brother vs brother and will end full circle "brother" vs "brother" metaphorically speaking.

Two killers born of Vogel. One biologically the other molded into the perfect killing machine born of a code that established his mission. His purpose.
